Pros

Lots of young, talented people who work there. Some genuinely great workers and even better people. Competitive commission rates if you get the chance.

Cons

A few months in, I went to 2 different members of management telling them that I was suffering with serious mental health issues with problems outside of work and was basically ignored. They were too worried about their own 'targets.' I then approached a senior member of the management team informally who said they would speak to me next time we were in the office. I was let go the following Monday for no specific reasons when challenged - only 'conduct and capability.' This had a very bad affect on my mental health. This company may seem as though they are bringing jobs to Derry but I am just one of the many, many people who have been let go in similar circumstances with no warning or explanation - massively denting employee confidence in a town where it seems to be at a premium. Huge staff turnover - have to ask how they can afford it. Management are all relatives of CEO who aren't educated in their departments. One manager was very patronising in tone and liked to make jokes about other members of staff. Blatantly obvious which reviews have been put on Glassdoor to take the bad look from the poor but honest ones. See 2nd September 2018 for reference.

Hello and thank you for your review Firstly we take mental health issues seriously at MetaCompliance. As this is an anonymous review I can only accept what you are stating here to be your opinion of the unfolding of events leading to your dismissal but having looked into this matter there is no record of a health issue of this nature being raised. As you are aware, each staff member has the ability to provide feedback at the end of each month's documented performance review and this is countersigned as having been read and understood by management. There are also weekly 1 to 1's with your team lead. This would have been the obvious and most direct way of raising an issue and having it dealt with. Meetings with your management team can be organised by a staff member at any point outside of this process. A simple message in Teams or just sending the meeting request through Outlook could have made the required time to discuss an issue of any kind. Also, as you are aware, we invest in a Health and Wellness program for staff that includes GP support, mental health support and cash back on health related expenses. We have this in place to support the staff that make MetaCompliance the growing company it is. With regard to the reason for dismissal, this is standard terminology and not meant to cause distress. Any areas for improvement would have been highlighted to you well in advance of any dismissal in the regular performance appraisals and 1 to 1 meetings you would have had with your line manager. We can understand your hurt having left MetaCompliance under these circumstances but it is to our benefit as much as the employees to leave termination as a last resort once all other avenues have been exhausted. This is how we maintain an industry average attrition rate in a scaling company. I'm not going to comment too much on your points regarding the management team and the Glassdoor reviews as it seems this speaks to your hurt rather than being grounded in actual fact or reality. Lastly, all positions are target based in any organisation, particularly management positions. We cannot apologise for this and targets would have been heavily discussed with you during recruitment and induction. It would be difficult for any driven organisation to operate without these but they are not in place at the expense of managing our staff or dealing with issues as they are raised. The weekly and monthly interactions are meant to support staff in all areas of development and assist with this. We do appreciate you taking the time to provide the review, even if it is a negative one, we will continue to learn and grown and sincerely wish nothing but the best for you in the future.

Pros

MetaCompliance as a company in its current state has no concrete positives to discuss. However it can be noted that it has the potential to be a very good company to work for.

Cons

There are too many cons to note therefore I will note my top 5. 1) The hiring structure of MetaCompliance is completely unfair to those who it are successful in the process. For example, you succeed in securing a role only to be let go within a month with no explanation. It seems that you are only there to fill the hiring quota set by the grant received from Invest NI 2) A promise made. In this company you are told the harder you work the more money you will make. This is not true. This is what they should advise their new staff. The harder you work the more you make for the big fish in the office as sales are taken from lower levels employees and passed on, with the lower level employees not getting any slice of the cake. 3) Office politics, in this office you need to be part of the inner circle before you start making money. If you are not part of this group, there will be a lot of communication behind your back. This communication will be to ridicule your efforts and possibly discussing the termination of your job. This is all because you do not fit into an environment backstabbing and political manoeuvring is the culture. 4) Middle management. This is a confusing one but stay with me. Middle management are the backbone behind the political manoeuvring and backstabbing in the office. However I must duly note that middle management also criticise and lambaste senior management to the lower level staff members under them. This causes confusion and causes relationships to fail. 5) The last con I will mention is not a con relating to the company but it is related to a certain individual in middle management. This person degrades and talks down to the majority of the staff. In one instance he mentioned and belittled another person's lunch as he could not afford to go out to eat with the rest of the staff. This was nonchalantly waved away when brought up as a compliant. Snide remarks and the belittling of his staff are common place within his management style. There you have it folks.

Hello, Having fully considered the content of your MetaCompliance review it seems you completely misunderstood a) our message to new staff at induction regarding Derry and b) the methods by which we as an organisation reward hard work and dedication. Firstly and importantly, we are a Derry based company by choice because we recognise that in this town and surrounding area we can tap into the knowledge and skill set of some of the hardest working most ambitious individuals available. The message you would have received in your group induction was that those are the type of individuals who make a success of their opportunity with MetaCompliance. As previously stated in other replies, our company will not suit everyone. This would have also been made clear during the interview process. To address point 1 - We have a fairly stringent recruitment process in place to avoid having to terminate an individuals employment. This is never pleasant for anyone involved and is certainly not our aim at the point of appointing an individual into a new position. When this does happen the individuals will know themselves why this decision has been taken. Falling asleep at your desk for instance would not be tolerated. In terms of the Invest NI grant, in order for us to draw down the grant that is aiding the boost to employment locally, staff must be with the company 12 months so if anything the opposite of your suggestion is true. We want individuals to make a success of their role for many reasons, not least of these is for them personally. Points 2 & 3. A performance plan is outlined in the first day of employment. In addition to your basic salary you receive a bonus based on an achievable monthly target. We love paying out bonus as this equals high activity for all. Points 4 and 5. If you genuinely felt colleagues were being undermined in the work place there were mechanisms in place to raise this as a concern and we would address issues of this nature without hesitation. Our culture and the ethical behaviour of our staff, especially as a growing company is extremely important to us. It is very easy to use forums such as Glassdoor as a weapon if you are a disgruntled ex-employee. Whilst we appreciate we do not get everything right all of the time we do feel in fairness that prospective staff should receive a balanced assessment of working here. We hope this clarifies a few of your points.
