Pros

Unlimited Commission and Bonuses. Felons have been occasionally hired here, despite company policy.

Cons

-Inconsistent policies and expectations, inconsistent disciplinary procedures and hiring/firing practices. Top producers are allowed to not follow procedures that new employees are expected to follow. Hostile behavior, violation of policy, attendance, prospecting expectations, inconsistent paperwork is allowed from top producers. (Even if there is a write-up, nothing is ever done for repeated behavior with top producers as they are rarely terminated.) -Have hired felons in sales, unbeknownst to supervising managers; although, company policy states otherwise. (No system of checks and balances put into place to assure that those felons did not behave badly, which a couple have.) -Although hourly expectations are defined in guidelines, the culture is that you work "above and beyond" reasonable hours. Difficult to reasonably sustain a social life. -Most locations have a tense, stressful work environment once the honeymoon period is over, IF there is a honeymoon period. Some employees/managers have been hospitalized or on sick leave due to stress related issues.

Pros

They have good sales training and incentives paid luncheons caring managers that have done the job at hand

Cons

Very boring job in the office at the cemetary the back of the office is extremely filthy old documents they need to clean up commission only

Pros

- Able to set your own hours to a degree. - Freedom to come in and out of office at own discretion. - Counselors are honest and work as a team overall. Lead stealing rarely occurs. - The occasional truly grateful family that you have assisted. - The managers of my parks were stellar, however the higher ups do not give them enough respect, trust, or freedom. (Michelle Wiedenbein, Justin Carty, Cathie McClary, god bless you three, I don't know how you do it.)

Cons

- Poor, inconsistent training - Cemeteries are a dying industry (no pun intended). Cremation is becoming the logical, affordable norm. - Managers who tell you you will make more than 30k/year are lying, only approximately 5-10 counselors in the company do and they are anomalies. I had the pleasure of working with the hardest working man I know who had been loyal to the company for 4 years and had just broke making 40k. Let it also be known the last conversation I had with him was about him planning to quit. - Be prepared to hide the truth from you customers, MMG's products and services are wildly overpriced compared to competitors and the cemeteries are not as well maintained as . - Out of touch owner and CFO. They are resist modernization and blame the salesforce for poor sales when the reality is they do not support their team with what they need to succeed. - This company has NO MARKETING; internet, print or other wise. The 65+ year old owner doesn't believe it applies to the industry. EVERY PRODUCT NEEDS MARKETING! - The Saginaw cemeteries are especially not given the support they need by upper management. They are the red headed step children so to speak . - Mandatory call nights lead to an exhausted sales force that must choose between sleep and family. - Most counselors must work 50+ hours to make above minimum wage and even then it is not guaranteed. - You will work at least every other weekend no matter what you are told in the interview. - Behind closed doors, most sales counselors who've worked here longer than a year have no confidence in the corporate office and are looking for work elsewhere. - Working in an industry dealing with death is poor for mental health. You will become jaded to death and it isn't uncommon for sales counselors to suffer from suicidal thoughts. - Company events/ meetings and culture are few and far between and exist so that the higher ups can do the bare minimum of appearing involved in their company.
