CEO is mentally challenged

Pros

The paychecks don't usually bounce. But there was one time when they were delayed. CEO and his little minion claimed it was because of a bank error. But company is running out of money is the real reason

Cons

You know what an abusive boyfriend is like? Where he constantly puts you down and tells you no one else would want you - so he kills your self esteem. That is this CEO, Joe. He constantly yells at and berates anyone who disagrees with him. If you are a person who thinks you are yelled at and pushed aside. You will learn nothing here. The CEO is a control freak who can't keep a straight thought for more than 24 hours. He was this way at Oplink Communications, Oplink Connected and MivaTek/MivaLife.

Pros

If you have no job and you need something to pay the bills, consider MivaTek over nothing. But I'd continue job searching even after you accepted the offer.

Cons

MivaTek was one of the worst places I've worked at. The environment is toxic, the CEO uses profanity and yells at people on a daily basis, I heard of him making one of the girls cry in a meeting of 10 people. Keep in mind it's a small company, and everyone works with the CEO directly and the CEO makes all decisions no matter what department you're in. They low-ball employees' salaries by promising a bright start-up future with equity. But a few days into the company you'd understand that they're selling a commodity product for higher than market rate pricing. Along with bad management and the beaten up team, I don't see the future being bright for them. Their "marketing strategy" was hiring a few experienced marketers, let them compete, and firing those who they don't think are "experienced enough" in comparison. Keep in mind sometimes they hire people who leave other jobs to join them on the false pretense. Their "retention strategy" is to hire people who need Visa sponsorship, and sponsor them. Those guys are unhappy, but stuck there. Their "pricing/brand/product strategy" is whatever the CEO feels like at the time. The best example of this is the CEO deciding to name the company MivaTek without further thought. They're now being sued by Miva, the E-commerce software company, and they now have to change their name. So yeah, if you have no job and you need something to pay the bills, consider MivaTek over nothing. But I'd continue job searching even after you accepted the offer.

Pros

The only good thing about the company is the people working there are all nice and friendly.

Cons

CEO is insane and super-micro managing every Department/Team. Even he doesn't know how Marketing, PR, Web Site Structure he tends to intervene with his incorrect knowledge of the subject matter. 100% of the time he is the bottleneck of many corporate initiatives. He does not trust his internal team, instead he would hire outside consultants to tell him the same info the internal team have been trying to emphasize. CEO used to run Oplink Communicatons. he also have a track record of having a volcanic temper.
