Pros

The product I'm selling is fantastic and I truly feel proud presenting it to prospective customers. Team members are very collaborative and willing to help. compensation is decent. Great sales and marketing resources to support the sales team. Very organized and efficient organization that is undoubtedly going places.

Cons

The product I sell was recently acquired by Modern Campus. Prior to the acquisition we felt like a very student centered, mission driven organization. As a sales team we spent so much valuable time discussing market trends, customer needs, and focused our energy on providing great outcomes to colleges. In contrast, our team meetings are now entirely focused on the needs of our investors...it is very apparent that the senior leadership team is very stressed about presenting good numbers to our investors and they actively disseminate that stress down the ranks. If you're numbers or your forecast is not up to par, sales management will not wait long to threaten your job security. I've been a top performer in sales my entire career, yet now I'm literally being yelled at by my "leader" with absolutely no mercy, for a single bad quarter (even though I exceeded quota during the previous quarter). It is abundantly clear that revenue matters more to Modern Campus sales leadership than people. DEI is "important" to the company yet half of the senior leadership team was absent during our last company DEI meeting. There is a papable "rich white person" vibe that flows down from senior leadership that unfortunately creates a very ignorant and unhealthy work environment for those who weren't born into that privilege. Senior leadership will drop thousands of dollars on expensive dinners and alcohol without thinking twice but will nickle and dime employees for even the smallest raise. And yes, they did cut my pay after the acquisition for no apparent reason. To move up the ladder at Modern Campus you need to fit in with their elite club. This job will be just fine for sales reps who don't care to conform to this culture, however if you value being able to bring your full authentic self to work I would highly recommend seeking work elsewhere. Since the Modern Campus acquisition, my mental health as an employee has significantly declined and I have never been more stressed.

Pros

Coworkers, who often go above and beyond, what is asked of them only to get the shaft from management.

Cons

Probably one of the stingiest company I've ever worked for and it starts with the CEO. In what company does a snack/supply order have to be approved by the CEO who then goes in and removes items? Don't let that disingenuous smile fool you, the CEO is a tightwad. The company only buys a birthday cake when it's the CEO or the Company's Founder. That's it. For the rest of the employee, it is up to a select group of people (party planners) who put up their own money to provide cakes for the other employees. Depending on which department you work for, there is definite favoritism. Development teams gets to go on a retreat trips. Support, Sales, Implementation. No so much because the work people do in those departments are not deemed important. In fact, some departments have to record what they do for all 8 hours. Go to the bathroom? Better mark it down. Feeling thirsty? Better mark it down that you went to the breakroom to grab some water. And don't get too comfortable, HR loves to change things to benefit the company. First it was salary. Then it was non-exempt salary, now it's non-exempt hourly. Work 7 hours and it's 4pm and you have to pick up your child, well,I hope you have some PTO or you're not getting paid. Did a wonderful job and got a lot of praise through out the year. Expect to get a $1K annual raise, or $2K if they lowballed your salary - which is non negotiable when you start. For being employee of the month, you get, wait for it, a nice certificate that management emphatically reminds you, 'That's going on your file'. You know, so you can get that 'great' raise.

Low salary. High workload. There is an active campaign going on in the company to add good reviews on glassdoor so beware.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are delighted that you thought our internship program was worthwhile, as we take great pride in providing a high-quality and educational experience to our interns. Although there has never been, nor will ever be an “active campaign” to get good reviews on Glassdoor, we appreciate both positive and negative insights from our employees. We wish you the best of luck in your career endeavors and we hope the internship provided valuable learning experiences.
