Pros

Absolutely nothing. I would be lying if I said one positive thing.

Cons

Where to begin?? This place is a horrible excuse for a business. They treat you like trash and when they are done using you they toss you out without notice. The manager Christina is the closest thing to Satan I’ve ever come into contact with. You will never be valued or given opportunity to move up or advance. I worked for them for two years doing everything to get this business off the ground. You will always feel sick when going into work and you will always second guess yourself. She will tell you to think outside he box then tell you, you did it wrong and you should have run it by her. If you have any self respect or dignity you won’t when you leave this place. You will spend your days on your knees sucking up and taking their BS. Again. DO NOT WORK FOR THESE CRIMINALS.

Pros

Seeing improvements in children Some BC's are nice and appreciate you If you are looking for a part time job to earn some money and you have psychological, teaching skills and like to work with kids then its a good job.

Cons

LOW PAY The pay is bad in comparison to other jobs where you get to work with kids. Other company offer much more. Many employees have already brought this to management attention since last two years but they do nothing about it. LITTLE APPRECIATION/HIGH EXPECTATIONS There isn't enough appreciation that BI's do because BI's are the one spending most of the time with kids. There is high expectations and despite you doing your best they will point out what you should do and won't really listen to you. They expect to squeeze every ounce of your energy. One time I was on my periods at work and despite informing them, they just said sorry but expect me to give my 100%. NO RECOGNITION ESP WHEN YOU RESIGN Despite giving your all to the company, when you leave the job they just discard you without acknowledge your efforts and time that you put. They would inform one another about you leaving but no one will acknowledge the work you did. NOT ENOUGH TRAINING There is little to not enough training for BI's and moving up the hierarchy is hard if you don't have specific qualifications. So, most BI's are basically stuck at the same position. Each kid is different and they don't give you enough background about them or training to treat them. I had to mostly learn on my own. Mind you, There are no benefits offered in this job. You basically have to work 35 hours per week for 3 months (which is unreasonable criteria esp for woman) as BI's and then you are entitled to medical benefits. Mind you, this is a physically and mentally tiring job. Also, the higher management keeps on saying they are small company and the hear employees concern but they don't really. They adjust to your schedule to suit your work/life balance once you have made your reputation as good employee but don't expect much from them.

Pros

I loved watching kids grow mentally and making huge strives towards full potential! Great experience working as a BI to understand what the role entails. The families are amazing!

Cons

Poor pay - they say they are trying to be “competitive” but yet cap BI’s at a very minimal wage. As well no compensation for gas or time spent traveling. Scheduling - an absolute mess, less than 24 hour notice for changes, double booking clients and no notice for cancellations while traveling. Co-Workers - everyone was very friendly however BI’s were considered lowest on the scale and clinicians didn’t really care about anything BI’s had to say. Patterns went ignored, requests ignored and denied and workload put on BI’s by senior staff did not help. Training- I am lucky I came to company with lots of experience because I got 2 shadow sessions and was thrown into running sessions on my own. The “trainer” does nothing but smack talk others and does not have the qualifications that Monarch expects even the BI’s to have. We go through a 6 HOUR unpaid “training interview” before you are hired and it is way too much information to take in to even absorb any of it. There is no safety training available to me, I personally was hospitalized on multiple occasions because of lack of training. They “provided” a seminar that the expected us to Skype into that we did not get paid for. Duty to report - management was made aware of situations where a client could be / was in danger and decided to ignore it. Money comes first - to this company it didn’t matter what is happening, as long as money is coming in. The centre charges an absurd rate for therapy and BI’s who run 75% of sessions don’t even see 10% of that hourly rate they charge. A lot of the times, staff is fighting to get the supplies they need to do their jobs properly. I’d personally love to know where this money goes. Hours and benefits- when interviewed and hired, you are told you will get full time and benefits through the company. What they don’t tell you is that they will cap your hours at 37.5 every week and you need a minimum of 38 to qualify for their benefits. I personally worked 8:30am - 6:30pm Monday to Friday, got paid 7.5 hours a day because of the “breaks” and “gaps” they would throw in the schedule. Sometimes I would have to sit and wait for four hours for my next session to start because they didn’t want to pay me more. This means with all these hours logged, I still was not able to receive the benefits program they told me was available in the hiring process.
