toxic leadership at the top

Pros

employees are hard working and supportive

Cons

Monument bank have some truly awful leaders. I have witnessed some disgusting behaviours this year that make me question whether my future is here. EXCO treat their employees as disposable regardless of how much work they do and how talented they are. There's no recognition or support. If you complain about workload or the way you are treated you are seen as being negative and will be pushed out. I have been left speechless on more than one occasion this year by the actions and behaviour of senior leaders that should know much better. Start ups are tough but monument have taken that to a whole new level and in doing so have shown that they don't really care about staff development and support and they also turn a blind eye when there are people not coping with ridiculous workloads. If you can't handle the workload or the inappropriate way very senior managers speak to you then you are seen as the problem, not the culture or the workload. I have raised workload concerns with my EXCO manager a number of times and they are ignored. I have worked here for a while now and regret giving so much of my time to a company where its leaders are only interested in themselves. You can't expect HR to help either as they only support EXCO wishes, with everyone else being dispensable. Do not take a role here if you value yourself and your mental health. They will break you.

Pros

All the non-executive, non-senior leaders are amazing. They deserve to be working somewhere that truly values them.

Cons

Where do I begin? I'll start with the culture and tone from the top - toxic. It is seriously hard to understand how any of them have been deemed fit to run a Bank. Well, I guess the truth is they aren't. Here we are facing another round of redundancies whilst LinkedIn paints an image of success. Sifted number 1 growing fintech? Don't make me laugh. The Bank has continually pushed money into failing products, doesn't lend (another redundancy exercise), and an ExCo that wouldn't look out of place serving beside Trump - think big dreams followed by big failures and totally out of control. Direct line management isnt any better and continues to spout the same nonsense, with next to no actual support, no recognition for unachievable workloads and continually turning a blind eye when concerns about conduct are raised. It's such a shame as the Bank had so much potential, but sadly the senior management have run it into the ground with no apparent consequences other than getting rid of people who ask too many questions and generally know their stuff. Please avoid this place like the plague.

Pros

Wine tasting every other week

Cons

Absolutely atrocious company to work for. The management is extremely rude and they do not care about you, you will be publicly mocked and no matter how high you go(HR, CEO) not one single person will care about how you have been treated. People have left amazing jobs in other amazing companies and have been forced out for not “sounding” or “looking” the part. The whole ex-co team are useless and do not help. You could call this a family run business at this point as you’re only hired and have a good chance of not being bullied if you have some sort of connection to the managers.
