      Pros

      Pockets of interesting technical work. Job security, good training opportunities, liberal leave policies. Relatively easy for engineer to get lateral transfers to different areas of work.

      Cons

      Mind numbing bureaucracy. Much of management would be considered administrators, not managers - these administrators are risk averse, not dynamic thinkers, there to simply enforce rules.

      Pros

      Fantastic developmental programs for engineers in all stages of life. Relatively quick promotions... The work life balance is awesome... 40 hour weeks unless you are in the test department.

      Cons

      Tons of bureaucracy, little to no engineering work, it doesn't feel like you are actually contributing to anything, and program managers do not value your input.

      Pros

      Taking time off is no problem at all, ever. Very relaxed atmosphere. 40 hours per week. Period. Most people are pretty nice. It is nearly impossible to get fired.

      Cons

      Bluntly put, the workforce. Everyone is old and just seems to be riding the job out until retirement. New hires are obscenely underappreciated. Pay is marginal. Seniority trumps everything, and there are plenty of people who've been working there for 40 years. Outdated processes, obsolete bookkeeping. Filing travel orders and vouchers can take the better part of a week.
