Pros

Enjoy the camaraderie on my team. Most of the campus employees had a real heart for ministry.

Cons

This place certainly struggles with a narcissistic leadership structure. Staff members are not highly valued and most are burnt out. A recent internal BCW study showed that 75% of the staff were seen as neutral or disengaged. Rather than improving, the staff culture and morale based on those numbers, leadership simply told 75% of the staff to feel free to quit.

Work-Life "Balance"

Pros

Anyone that has a desire to work in ministry can easily feel excited and even wooed by the multiple campuses that are mostly beautiful and somewhat modern. The people you work with and build relationships with are the reason to stay. Several people have cited the money isn't great, but those folks probably haven't worked in many churches. For ministry, you are paid fair when you come in, but will have to fight to make more if your job responsibilities increase.

Cons

Lofty and unattainable goals for staff - the bar is set then a few months later changed once again to add more to staff's plates. Work-life balance is a joke. Every single person that has left in the last year has cited they felt like their family wasn't a priority. Unsure how a church with family as a top value overworks their own employees to the point where they cannot enjoy time with their own. The demands that continuously changed and the bar that is always raised is unattainable at best.

Lots of promise but struggles to deliver

Pros

The main reason that most people stay here for any length of time is the people. Some of the employees genuinely care and make large sacrifices to do their job as best as physically possible. During my time at NewPointe I formed relationships that have affected my life in ways I could not imagine. In my position I always felt that I had what I needed to complete my responsibilities. It is rewarding to see people experience life-change and know that your work contributed to them changing. Some flexibility in schedule (salary employees). Working around life events was never an issue.

Cons

The biggest issue with this organization is trust. As in, there is very little for staff members. The desire to control and micro-manage from the top breeds distrust that has saturated the culture. Leadership will tell staff members what decisions to make and then turn around and ask why people aren't stepping up and making them on their own. This creates a very discouraging cycle that ends in many people finding other employment earlier than planned. High-demand and stressful working environments. After working 40+ hours each week many staff members also serve on the weekends. There is no time adjustment for serving and families suffer. For many staff members the weekend is a source of anxiety, not relaxation. During my tenure I only received a performance review during one year. The opportunities for advancement both positionally and financially depend exclusively on how leadership views you at that moment. Multiple high-performing employees were let go because they were not "YES" people and spoke out against poor decisions. Under-performing employees stayed and even promoted because of their relationship to leaders. Funds were not available to pay vastly underpaid staff yet became available for frivolous expenses when leadership requests were made.
