Pros

Nice location. Easy commute. Many employees are genuinely nice people.

Cons

Abusive workplace where managers truly believe verbal abuse is a management tool. The verbal abuse is propagated up the chain & HR / Legal do nothing to reprimand abusive employees. There is a general air of unaccountability, they would rather fire and blame consultants for failures rather than taking action actual real issues impacting progress. Managers live in an imaginary world where meetings consume 90% of employees days. Most of the time nobody will attend your meeting or they will ask you to shift schedule and then discipline you because you moved the meeting to their preference. Meetings convey an air of "busy" however absolutely never accomplish said goals or invent new forks in the road to waste time on. Manager is an extreme micro manager... to the point that they will re-format your presentation for a meeting between two different styles for every other meeting. As if they had totally forgot the previous meeting that style was unacceptable but as of this meeting "has always been the gold standard". Most employees can barely turn on a PC however are absolute "experts" at how to use them. Moreover they constantly belittle employees taking initiative. More times than I can count I was told two employees were being fired. They never fired them and kept them there as if to torture them until they quit.

Pros

Good Salary Good Benefits RRSP contributions above average Good culture, great people to work with (many I consider friends) Some very hard working people at the company Senior Management very approachable and appreciate input Management understanding of personal issues (especially curing COVID) Safety and Mental health for employees is important Still has a smaller company feel given its size

Cons

Can be slow to make important decisions Can be slow to advance career even if you have strong talent and are a team player (especially when senior managers in are area of interest are not good leaders or managers). Vacation time standard in Ontario (nothing special) Growing pains with the company becoming more global Development teams can be overly optimistic on projects just to get them pushed through which in the long run will not benefit FCF. Lack of accountability in certain departments which sets up others to fail. A small few senior managers should not be in those roles due to incompetency Meetings get in the way of other priorities that require a sense of urgency. (Need better delegation from Senior Management if they are too busy with other objectives)

Pros

Excellent company to work for about two years in order to get "great" experience. The company will pay you much less than the competitors, but will give you much more responsibility, hence you will be forced to improvise and compensate for the lack fo structure and resources. You will learn a LOT. A lot of ambitious junior guys end up there and move out quickly after to better companies.

Cons

Don't expect to get recognition for your work despite all your efforts. This is a very political organization despite its small size. The rewards stay at the top only and the organization prefers to hire "top guns" from the top tier competitors to fill out the top roles and then drain inexpensive resources below it for the lack of cash.
