Pros

Very nice people work there, but then next thing you know they are gone. HQ is nice with nice collaboration spaces. If only people were there long enough to collaborate with.

Cons

Huge, huge turnover rate in corporate HQ speaks for itself. Better than half of the people that moved to the new HQ are gone. They talk a good game, but don't deliver. You don't have the IT tools you need to get the job done. If you are good, you make your own tools, but really why would you want to when there are companies out there that will supply you with what you need. Few managers tell you you did a good job. I actually had one tell me that they didn't need my input they were a director. Well, then you don't get my help either. They keep increasing management layers and not increasing the number of employees that actually have to do the work. Lots of new VPs, Global Directors, Directors positions; same number of people to do the grunt work.

Thank you for sharing your comments. We embrace feedback even when it is hard to hear, and I’m sorry that your experience with us wasn’t everything you wanted. OMNOVA has been a company in transition for the past several years. We’ve had a lot going on – fundamental changes in some of our served markets, moving our corporate HQ to Beachwood from Fairlawn, and a highly tenured workforce that has driven a spike in retirements, which are among the more significant reasons for employee turnover. While there is no doubt some of our teammates have been unhappy with some of the changes, the number of resignations by dissatisfied employees is a very small portion of that turnover, and much lower than what is generally considered normal. Our new CEO recently conducted a global “listening tour” where she asked employees what was working, what isn’t, and what advice they had from her. This feedback included lots of great ideas on how to make our company a better place to be, many of which have implemented already. Additionally, our exit interview data makes it clear that while some employees leave due to dissatisfaction, the great majority would recommend OMNOVA to a friend or family member as a good place to work. Thanks again for sharing your feedback and helping us improve! Rob Calderwood, Global Director, Human Resources

Pros

Nothing that outweighs the cons

Cons

Be very careful if you're considering working here at any level of the company. Morale is at the bottom of the barrel and it seems like management could care less. If management could use whips they would. They try to use the better pay as an excuse to make you sacrifice your home life. If you have any love for your family steer clear of this snake pit.

Pros

The pay and nice building

Cons

There are very few ppl in this company who know what they are doing this is a very unorganized company! Huge turnover. There is a huge lack in policies and procedures. They have people in roles that don’t know what they are doing. Management couldn’t help me do anything. Management didn’t know anything about what I did on daily basis and when I needed help or support I was told to reach out to other companies and see how they did something or to look up best practices on LinkedIn. You are pretty much left to fend for yourself no support! As a leader you need to be able to roll up your sleeves and get dirty in times where the help is needed! It’s a waste of breath asking for help or support because upper management and hr acts as though they are too busy to address your complaints! They keep people in positions that they are not qualified for and since this is a very lean company there is no room for people who are a set back to the company. I was so miserable there and it was such a relief to leave! This company does not care about its ppl and I wouldn’t recommend anyone here! Going there was one of the worse mistakes in my life

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. I am sorry to hear that OMNOVA was not the right fit for you. We are a lean organization and as such, we encourage our employees to set ambitious objectives and push themselves to reach their goals. One of the reasons we often hear employees enjoy working at OMNOVA is for the opportunities to own initiatives and develop their careers. We want to empower our employees to feel they initiate change across the organization. We do expect, in return, that our leaders communicate openly to foster collaboration and support. Leaders regularly participate in 1:1 sessions and skip-level meetings and as an organization, we hold them accountable for having these conversations. Managers at OMNOVA are “working managers,” and they do roll up their sleeves. A lot. That’s why we look for team players who can be comfortable in their roles and collaborate with their managers and coworkers on solutions that move the organization in the right direction. I would be happy to speak with you regarding your experience at OMNOVA. Your feedback will help us grow! Jennifer Sloat Human Resources Generalist
