Pros
Within a week of leaving and starting a new job, i felt like I could breathe again
Cons
You know when you look back at a chapter in your life and you wonder how on earth you did that for so long? How did you subject your self to such negativity, self doubt and abuse for all that time and not walk away? Why did you feel so trapped and helpless? PI Creative art is that period in your life. I have never worked somewhere with such a toxic dark cloud of greed hovering over it as this place. The owners smile and act like they care about their workforce but really could not give a damn about anything but money. Although my co-workers were nice people, I have never worked somewhere with such a low quality of life within the company nor have I ever worked amongst so many people that hate their job and the company they work for. They pay below the average Toronto wage for a Designer and none of their "Art Directors" have any knowledge on how to work any of the programs needed to do the work. No one in a higher position trusts people below them and there is such a fear of making the owners angry that they would rather do things that will appease the owners than something that is of better quality for the company as a whole. There were no benefits, and every year they say they were "working on it" and nothing happens. They lie through their teeth and are filled with empty promises. If you have a 1h Dr. appointment they will make you take one of your vacation or sick days. I had managers who were afraid/worshiped the owners, try to throw me under the bus so that they could save face. Countless times I was advised to steal or copy other artists work and alter it just enough so that they wouldn't get sued when selling the work to their client. Projects would constantly be delayed because the management and owners had no trust in the employees and felt the need to helicopter every single thing. One of the male owners is creepy and is highly inappropriate with the women who work here. HR is not on the side of the employees. They will pretend to listen and then tell you that what ever you are asking is not company policy. The hardworking people in the factory are treated like they are disposable and I would witness them being yelled at quite often by higher ups. This company that prints and frames artwork, some how got labeled “essential" when COVID-19 rolled around and had a large number of people working through the full pandemic. One worker contracted the virus, died from it, and nothing changed. I am a very happy person and am not writing this in a fit of rage, but this place is not a good environment for anyone. Unless its absolutely essential that you must work here for some reason, do everything you can to find a job somewhere else. Do not get sucked into this darkness and do help this company make more money.
