Pros

Nothing is positive about this company.

Cons

They micromanage constantly. If you’re given a poor rating by anyone between the ages of 7-18, they look at the reason for it then condemn you for someone’s mistake invalid low rating ,with zero expertise or degree. Children rate you and get to control whether you stay an employee or are terminated. What do they know about tutoring? If you don’t review writing sessions exactly as they want, they get upset. So when I resolved the issue, what did they do? They looked at two comments on the paper and reviewed me over that and said I wasn’t following the layout of tutor feedback. Wrong- they just chose not to read all comments and decided to be lazy and grade me over a select few they cherry-picked. I follow guidelines but the quality assurance team is too lazy to actually take time to review tutor comments completely and berates you for no reason. I hate this company but my husband lost his job so I have to keep working. I can’t wait to leave.

Pros

The single biggest pro here is the humanity. You get the sense that the founders genuinely care that the decisions we’re making are in the best interests of the employees, teachers, students, and our communities. Somehow they’ve managed to do this in the context of a startup. - Freedom to experiment and do quality work - Great appreciation of user experience and design - Emphasis on learning and development - Diversity of experience and thought - A feeling that you can be your true self here - Teachers and students LOVE the product which is motivating

Cons

Personally, I don't really have any. It is a startup and while I don't think Pear Deck suffers from much of what most startups do, I'm sure we're in for plenty of challenging change over the next few years.
