Pros

Some of the co-workers were great. I learned a great deal about bookkeeping and QuickBooks. I kept hoping things would improve, but they didn't.

Cons

In my opinion, they're unethical. Their employee handbook violates employees' rights and they're currently under investigation with the NLRB. I heard clients gossiped about amongst staff daily. The employment turn-over rate is embarrassingly high (~50% of the office staff in 2 years). There's no transparency and everything is "secretive" when it comes to management. I wasn't even compensated 1/3 of my bill rate and any raises were real low and not discussed face-to-face (it's all done by memo) . Also, I was told during the interview process I could pick my hours from a range of 7-5:30; I found out on my first day there that was not true. My hours were 8-5; no exceptions. Health insurance is expensive.

There are many points made by this former employee that we would like to clarify. As a company that helps high net worth individuals with their most personal business affairs, we pride ourselves on having high ethical standards and knowing how to maintain their confidentiality. So, while it’s true that employees are bound not to discuss confidential client matters outside of work, they can and do discuss those matters within the office on a need-to-know basis in order to collaborate on serving the client. We regret that this former employee considers such talk to be “gossip.” It’s worth noting that we don’t allow unauthorized access to salary information of another employee, and it’s not right to share that information without the consent of the person involved. We pride ourselves on our Employee Handbook, which is regularly reviewed and updated by an attorney who specializes in employment law. We have no idea what this individual believes may “violate employees’ rights” and think she is mistaken; she has never brought anything of that sort to our attention. Regarding turnover, only six employees have left in the last two years. Although she’s right that health insurance is expensive, Personal Administrators does currently pay over half of the employee premium. As for picking one’s hours, we do indeed offer flexible arrival and departure time, and everyone can opt to show up between 8 and 8:30 am, then work until 5 or 5:30 p.m.

This employee was employed by Personal Administrators for less than one month and all of the claims she makes are false. -While her resume and skill set were well suited for the position, she accepted the position knowing full well the salary. -We have specific language in our Handbook stating that employees are free to discuss their salaries, if they desire. No one is labeled or called "ungrateful". -While it is coincidental that we are an all-women company, we most definitely do have a maternity policy in our Handbook. This employee was provided with a handbook which she signed, stating she had read and understood the policies. -Personal Administrators indeed offers flexible time, which was also explained in detail at her start date. -This employee was observed by her direct supervisor gossiping about her co-workers. -Our company Covid policies, which meet with the CDC requirements, were recommended to us by our employment attorney. Remote work on behalf of Client Managers is not permitted due to the high level of confidentiality we provide our clients. This was also explained in detail, at her start date. -Turnover is not high. In fact, there is longevity at Personal Administrators. -I personally spoke with both Senior Client Managers who trained this individual and both deny ever having made such a statement about being unhappy. Finally, this employee was observed coming to work every day in tears, and according to her, it was because she was unable to cope with the presidential election. She further spent a great deal of company time complaining about her salary, how she was overqualified, and the numerous personal problems she brought to the office.
