Pros

Nice people in general and location

Cons

They will tell you one thing and after you are onboard they retract their agreements they made with you. They will bring you in at a low pay for salaried workers with a promise of a raise in pay soon after starting and also additional help since I was going to be doing everything and way more outside of my scope. But they stated after a bit that they will not be adding an additional person and there will be no raise at all and there is no date to revisit it then they continued to pile more work on.

Pros

The company will hire anyone Very difficult to get fired

Cons

Point Broadband took over Casair in Stanton, Michigan in 2020. Point Broadband came in full of promises to rejuvenate a company with very low morale, increase wages, and expand internet in the state of Michigan. They did very little to fulfill these "promises". The morale at Point Broadband in Michigan is at an all time low. Every employee that is not in a management role is actively seeking other employment whether they would admit to it or not. The company allows some employees to do little to nothing all day long, while making others do the jobs of 3-4 people. Some employees spend multiple hours in the bathroom or sleeping at their desk and the company says "there is nothing we can do". A somewhat decent work ethic is looked over, while no work ethic seems to be rewarded. Point Broadband micromanages every aspect of the business and will not allow employees to make decisions regarding their own departments. The company will not listen to any solutions to issues and they basically tell employees to deal with the issues or don't work here. The company belittles employees and targets employees who will not blindly follow their backwards way of doing things. The amount of work that Point Broadband asks from employees is extremely disproportionate to the pay you are given here. Some fast food restaurants in surrounding areas are offering higher wages than Point Broadband does. The company stated they were going to reevaluate pay and make it competitive for the position that you hold. It took them just short of a year to give out a very mediocre "merit increase" that did little to nothing to make wages competitive. Point Broadband is more concerned with buying out smaller companies than they are with actually getting their infrastructure and processes figured out. The company refers to everyone as a "family", but I can't imagine a family member treating other family members so horribly. They belittle employees, underpay employees, refuse to listen to their employees, and they micromanage employees until to the point of seeking new employment. Several employees have left recently and I see this trend continuing. When this happens, they also refuse to hire employees to replace ones that have left. This puts even more stress on current employees. I would not recommend Point Broadband to anyone. Keep searching for another job as the stress of working here is not worth it and there are much better opportunities out there.

Pros

Good place to learn basic skills.

Cons

No room for growth. High performance expectations with low salary. No on-call pay stipends. No flexibility with schedule regarding late night work (12-16 hour shifts in some cases). Does not repay expenses for vehicle wear and tear, mileage, or training material required by management. Does not pay out accrued vacation time. Does not actively seek to employ new people (overworks current employees to the point of burnout). Management does not value knowledge and experience and can be downright insulting at times. Anybody who works here that is not a manager, despises the company and is actively looking for new career opportunities.
