Pros

Decent benefits. Depending on who you work for and what department your experience here could be good.

Cons

They tolerate bullies because of 'status'. Not much room to grow. Very little lack of professional development opportunities if you are not an attorney. They treat exiting employees with disrespect.

Pros

Hours are good, 930-530 and good work life balance depending on group you're in.

Cons

No real perks, benefits are below par, no bonuses, maternity leave is basically non existant if you haven't been with the firm for 10 years. They don't even pay you for jury duty unless you've been with them for a while. They nitpick every minute you work, meaning don't even try showing up 10 minutes late. Even though it's salary, you need to make up every minute. They even charge for every phone call. I had a conversation with an attorney I worked with while he was out of office and received an actual bill for the 40 cents "long distance" phone call, granted you just tell billing what the call was but it's ridiculous that that is the policy. Also, it looks like associates are dropping like flies, every week at least 2 associated quit.

They're really nice, until you need something

Pros

People are friendly, good work life balance

Cons

Firm is not flexible when it comes to policies, even when there are extenuating circumstances. If you come in late, you have to make up the time. Time off policy is by monthly accrual so you might be docked a vacation day when you are sick, only to accrue the needed sick day shortly thereafter on the first of the next month. Also very frugal. This applies to compensation but also around the office. You have to pay for personal long distance calls out of pocket so I just didn't use the phone.
