Pros

Health insurance and benefits package was good.

Cons

I’m a former employee of Purohit—not disgruntled in any way; would just like others who may be considering employment to know a bit about the company culture. With regards to the CEO: The CEO may be “passionate,” but her passion is misdirected into micromanagement, rudeness, utter narcissism and a complete disregard and respect for her employees (including certain members of Upper Management). The employee culture is filled with palpable tension, unhappiness and whispers, always wondering who will be heinously demeaned next for attaching files to an email in an order the CEO finds unappealing, not reading her mind or simply working ahead in an incorrect manner. An example of the culture: During my first week of employment, a particular member of management informed me that when the CEO made me cry (and I would cry, she said), I could just come into her office, close the door and she would turn around and give me the time necessary to collect myself. Welcome to Purohit. Creative members of Upper Management are talented, stressed to the max and look like they’re about to have coronaries (hey, it’s the ad world, right?). Like I said, though, they’re talented and truly good people. I would work with them again in a heartbeat, but only under different circumstances. Work/life balance is nonexistent. Do not make plans. Ever. Not even when your wife goes into labor (Oh, it happened). Overall, this incredibly unhealthy environment is truly beyond the scope of what can be covered politely and somewhat professionally in a Glassdoor review.

Pros

I learned quite a bit about perseverance, anger management, maintaining my own decorum, nepotism, narcissism and how not to treat employees. Also, as others have stated, the views from the "break" room are absolutely spectacular.

Cons

I've hesitated to write this review for almost a year since I voluntarily ended my employment at PNAV. I do not like rehashing painful subjects, nor do I like "trashing" former employers, however, I've noticed an alarming trend here on Glassdoor of what are clearly fake/planted reviews, and I'm no longer going to sit idly by and let the star level be raised by these lies. Never in my working career have I seen such a culture of havoc within a workplace. Ms. Purohit does a spectacular job of micromanagement, there is no possible way to maintain effective processes in any level of this business, from client-facing AEs to Copywriters to Event Coordinators. No one is trusted to do their job and do it well, and this leads to levels of inefficiency that wouldn't be tolerated in any business sector. The lies that circulate the office outward to clients are rampant, going so far as to create "fake" nameplates to support the illusion of a larger workforce during important client visits to the 111 South Wacker Office. Having to uphold lies such as these makes one angry and disillusioned. During Ms. Purohit's many "teaching moments," her true narcissism rears its head as she bestows her many years of now-outdated marketing wisdom on you. It's okay, though, because she'll change her mind several other times and likely return to your initial proposal when the clients choose so. There are too many other examples of her narcissism to begin to share. Keep reading the reviews. The mentions of it are not exaggerating in the slightest. You'll be asked to work not just a lot of hours, but excessive hours--even for a marketing agency. Overnights. Weekends--calls Saturday evenings/Sunday mornings (I hope you don't ever indulge in adult beverages on the weekends, because it's difficult to work if you get that call and you've been imbibing--and you can't ignore because she'll just keep calling). There is no--absolutely zero--work/life balance.

Pros

Building was very nice. It was nice to go to the lobby and enjoy the amenities because the office space itself was depressing and the furniture was tacky. Not much to say. Some of the people were nice to work with. The lower management only.

Cons

The turnover was high. The only plus was Mr. Donohoe. What a joy to work with him and learn. The clients were very nice but the owner of the company will never let you work freely with a client. The owner has to CONTROL every aspect of your job. There was always food in the kitchen. Never felt at ease when I took my vacation because you had to pay for it upon your return. You would be bombarded with emails constantly and texts. There is no work life balance even though they say they are working on it. I see a lot of job openings, you will get burned out very quickly at this company. I moved on to work at a company that I can share my own ideas and my boss welcomes this feedback and even gives me credit for it instead of holding me down as I felt working at Purohit. I even asked the owner if I can join and organization and I was always turned down. The owner's comment was, let's wait and see, well it never came to be....and that told me a lot. Not many raises were given and if you did get a raise it was very little. Micromanagement of my day was exhausting. I see many reviews here and the same theme runs true. So I know it wasn't just me. The production department wasn't fully staffed and I have not seen so many errors in this area. And the filing system was such a ball of confusion. Doing your timesheets was a chore in itself. I am not disgruntled at all and some of the reviews say that only disgruntled employees are writing negative reviews; but I only realized my potential and it was not at this company. You will not grow at this company because they hold you back in so many ways. Your personal life will become nonexistent! Upper management does not communicate well. There is a member of upper management who constantly is involved in every aspect of your job. Let the staff who has experience in this area do their job freely and if they constantly make mistakes or need extra training, that is when you should micromanage them. Not if they are capable and have a lot of experience behind them. The owner of the company IMHO is a control freak and a narcissist to the highest level. As I said, a leopard doesn't change it's spots and the owner will never change either. But only you can decide if this is a culture you want to work in. The mission statement does not match what actually takes place.
