Pros

You learn fast, some flexibility in WFH.

Cons

I’ve worked with PwC in other regions and had very positive experiences. Unfortunately, the situation in Australia feels disorganised and structurally broken. The issue is not the long hours or demanding workload — those are expected in consulting. The real problem is the organisational structure: there appear to be too many partners and directors, and not enough managers and junior staff to support delivery properly. This creates a top-heavy environment where managers are forced to perform the work of seniors, associates, and even administrative staff, with the pressure cascading across every level of the business. Instead of improving efficiency, the structure creates constant operational strain and confusion around responsibilities and accountability. There also seems to be an unrealistic expectation from leadership regarding AI. AI is being treated as a shortcut to replace roles from manager level and below, despite its current limitations. At times, leadership’s expectations around AI appear more disconnected from reality than the technology itself.
