Don't work here if you value critical thinking

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits.

Cons

This organization thrives on using vague political jargon to raise money from large foundations, corporations, and the like. If you do policy work there you will spend your time giving "101" presentations about race to rooms full of cis white people, with no larger thought given to how racism actually operates in those rooms, cities, states, etc. The PPT presentations are truly historic. An audience member will learn one bullet point about housing discrimination from decades ago but nothing about how it's happening today. They promise that more detail will come later, if you pay for it, yet no capacity is added internally to provide those services. Other staff there give the impression that they work with you in solidarity, yet if you put forward new ideas they will not lift a finger to help you as to not upset the executives. If you are committed to ending racial inequality and believe it is bigger than any one organization do not work at RF. The criticisms in the other reviews are also true. All-around terrible place to work given their stated mission.

Pros

Individuals and teams are great, most staff are unhappy with leadership and willing and open to discuss it, they have amazing benefits. 6months parental leave, work from home, generous salary, great health care benefits,

Cons

The executive team operates as a corporation, they have no vision for racial justice only for acquiring more money. Very top-heavy organization with 4 levels of VPs for a small organization / executive VP, senior VP, deputy VP, and program VP. They have an issue with Black and Latina women and have been promising to work on it for years. The white woman that runs the organization has her own vision and it does not include accountability. I would be really weary in coming to this organization.
