The worst working experience of my career

Pros

The salary is ok but no job is worth the stress and upset you will suffer at the hands of the MD. The aggressive tone and language he uses is completely unacceptable, I fail to understand how this company is still standing.

Cons

So many to list but here are a few: The MD and publisher are both bully boys. They send aggressive emails to staff members yet hide when challenged or questioned. They both constantly swear at staff and ridicule them. Since my departure from the business some months ago I have learnt that out of the 9 staff only 3 remain with one being a new starter. Avoid like the plague at all costs.

WORST WORKING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!

Pros

Simple none...Actually one..leaving! What a joke.

Cons

It's interesting how the positive reviews have come within days of each other, probably from the bullying management, who have tried to counteract the REAL concerns and accurate reviews from people working there. This company is dreadful, like others have said if you like the 1980 style of management, being bullied and micromanaged at every step, criticised at every opportunity this place is perfect for you! It's like being a coffee bean through to percolator, they grind you down gradually so you have no confidence, value or opinions, taking away as many rights as they can, making excuses for not paying company pension, delaying anything possible such as paying expenses until you can almost not afford to come to work. Always looking to turn people over, a favour that never gets returned with situations always working to the directors advantage...give an inch they take a mile, financially, personally and professionally.

Misogynistic, micromanaging and mean management

Pros

Nothing except the salaries which are on a par for the industry

Cons

If you love being scrutinised 24/7, sworn at constantly and having your time wasted with menial tasks then this is your dream company, Staff aren't given any autonomy and senior editorial staff are treated like interns. Buying milk, being told when you can go for lunch and having to catch the night bus after late events or business dinners/drinks are all normal according to the penny-pinching and ultra controlling MD. Every conversation and internal meeting turns into a row, expertise and best practice are routinely ignored and the two partners bicker constantly making for a very toxic and uncomfortable atmosphere in a small office. If you are dare to have an opinion, based, say, on years of experience, that the MD doesn't agree with then he goes into an explosive rant. The business is centred around cruising but the management make it difficult to go on trips and want to keep the staff in the office where they can watch/control them. Swearing is prolific and male 'banter' straight out of the 80s is cringe worthy at best and sexist and beyond respectful and rude at worst. A truly horrific experience. No wonder staff churn is high while morale is rock bottom.
