Pros

You do learn a good bit about food service design working here

Cons

Nepotism is a problem at this company. Case in point: The review entitled “a thriving company fostering growth an innovation” was written by the owners daughter, the marketing manager or whatever title she has been given this time. It was taken down already but back up with the title not filled out.

Pros

You learn a lot about how the food service industry works. I was able to see a lot of innovative designs that I otherwise would have never known about. You also learn to really appreciate how expensive it is to be in the food service/hospitality business.

Cons

Was told there would be health benefits within a year of my starting and that turned out to be a lie. To this day there are still no health benefits. They have core values and "culture" but those are also lies. Communication is a core value but no one ever seems to do so within the office. There is always a "fire" to be put out due to lack of communication. Little to no praise is ever given to anyone outside of the design team, but when anything goes wrong they are quick to let you know you were in the wrong. Public shaming (roasting) is a thing at group meetings within the company. Belittling and down-playing your role is the standard MO. The "breakfast" they advertise consists of oreos, bananas and yogurt. Bringing issues or complaints about standards to upper management falls on deaf ears. The owner basically doesn't acknowledge the room is on fire and just stays typing away on his computer. Very high turnover rate. I watched 11 people go on and out the door at all positions in a bit over a year. They let quality employees leave and hope that the average Joe can come off the street and at least keep the ship floating even if its not moving. I've watched them hire people who didn't know computer basics be forced into a role and then left to sink with the expectation that they would just "get it".

Thank you for your review. I am glad you had the opportunity to see a lot of innovative design and to learn about the foodservice industry. We are pleased to offer a very competitive ancillary benefits package including dental and vision insurance, ST disability, LT disability, Life insurance, Legal assistance, and Teledoc. We don't offer health insurance at this time but we do have a health and wellness bonus (monthly stipend) given to all full-time employees to offset health insurance costs. Proof of insurance is required to receive this benefit. Our core values are very important to us. We use them during the interview and hiring process, during quarterly 360 peer reviews, for annual reviews, and they are the basis of how we operate daily. Communication is one of our core values and we are constantly discussing as a team how we can improve and maintain clear communication. We have a culture of accountability that also celebrates wins and rewards high-achieving employees. We want to fill each and every position with star employees. We listen and consider all employee feedback. All team members should feel empowered as they are given both freedom and responsibility. We understand this culture is not for everyone. We do offer a few job perks such as weekly breakfast, coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, spring water - all day, monthly catered lunch, weekly or bi-weekly catered lunch and learns. Our breakfast is occasionally catered but usually consists of yogurt and cut fruit, or a few kinds of fruits, and something like bagels, donuts, or other baked goods. I wouldn't tell anyone to work here for the breakfast, but it's a little perk that most employees enjoy. We understand that our jobs can be very stressful and we like to offer food as a way to get employees together, take a break, talk to one another, and just relax a bit. Clearly defined roles are very important to our organization. Our President focuses on Business Development and Sales, not drafting tasks. Drafters receive direction from and work directly with our Project Managers. Again, thank you for your review and best of luck to you in your future career.

My experience at SCOPOS

Pros

You will gain a lot of experience in this field as there is a lot of work to go around. You will be relied upon to put out high quality product so it’s a good chance to refine your skills. There is a pretty flexible work/life balance.

Cons

High turnaround, I’ve seen a lot of good employees leave and all that work trickles down to the next person who might not know exactly what they’re doing. Yearly performance reviews are graded by peers so if you don’t get a long with everyone, your review may be sabotaged. Hard work is very rarely rewarded, I’ve seen good employees ask for promotions just to be insulted by the so called “bad work” they put out and pushed out the door.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your experience at SCOPOS. We appreciate your valuable input, and we are committed to using it to improve the experience for our current and future employees. We are pleased you found our work enriching, allowing you to refine your skills, and acknowledged our flexible work-life balance. One of our primary goals is to provide a challenging yet rewarding work environment that enables employees to grow and develop. We recognize that we have been experiencing higher-than-usual turnover rates and are actively implementing measures to address this issue. One of the key strategies we've adopted to improve our hiring process is using a new hiring platform that matches an applicant's DISC profile with the ideal personality profile of the role they are applying for. We are also developing Business Process Mapping Notation (BPMN) strategies to retain knowledge within the organization, ensuring a seamless transition of responsibilities, regardless of personnel changes. Your thoughts on the annual review process and peer grading have been noted. We believe that feedback from various sources helps to present a broader, more accurate view of performance. Our intention is not to create an environment for sabotage but to promote a more collaborative and holistic approach to assessing employee performance. We'll look into refining this process to prevent potential bias. We sincerely regret to hear your sentiments about promotions and recognition. We are committed to cultivating an environment where hard work is acknowledged and rewarded. We have implemented programs such as the Monthly Employee Spotlight and still have our annual core value awards to celebrate employee achievements. Keeping and promoting current employees is also in the company's interest. We are building internal career paths for each position that outline ways to advance into a higher position within the company. Your advice to management is well-taken, and we assure you that employee growth and empowerment are among our top priorities. We'll continue to work on creating opportunities for employees to grow and feel valued. Thank you again for your feedback and time at SCOPOS. We wish you every success in your upcoming professional pursuits.
