Pros

The people that work are great and very talented in their respective fields. For the defined job responsibilities, the compensation and benefits are very good. The spectrometers are great, and seeing how they are used in different fields of work is incredibly fun and interesting.

Cons

Severe mismanagement of the business creates a perpetual high turnover rate for too many positions. As a result, most operations are relegated to stop-loss of customers rather than increasing the customer base. For the actual responsibilities of the job, the compensation is not nearly appropriate.

Pros

The job is rewarding in itself, the pay is good, The benefits are great, you can't complain about the healthcare.

Cons

Over the past few years the new management are slowly destroying the company from within, the morale is low, the controller has cut the per diem, the travel is absolutely horrendous they will no longer let you upgrade your seat even if it's 15 dollars more, the new controller wants you to pay for your own tools now and if luggage or tool kit is damaged from the airline it's on you, no longer will spectro reimburse you for equipment needed to complete the job.rental cars have to be compact. And hotel rooms must be under 125 a night so get used to staying at roach motels most of the time. Honestly in the past 2 years the field engineers have just became a number, we are no longer valued to the company other than a profit center. You will have no work/ life balance as an engineer as you will be gone Monday through Friday, with them expecting the earliest flight on Monday and the latest flight home on Friday to ensure you get a full 8 hours done at a customer site. There is no growth if you are an engineer that's where you stay, you have no chance in moving up to any other positions as they only hire outside for management.

Pros

None, used to be a great company now it has lost all it's appeal and glory

Cons

Every thing from no work life balance to micro management, and the lack of team building or any one left with real experience, in the past year 3 of the best managers left within a few weeks of each other and 5 engineers have left, the phone support team sucks now and customers abuse us because of the lack of response
