Pros

Great views from the office

Cons

I left Servcorp some years ago, but was prompted to do a search on my old company following the recent ACCC enquiry into their unethical practices (can't believe it has taken so long). My jaw dropped when I saw their Glassdoor score, because I have never met a former worker who had anything positive to say about the firm. Be VERY wary of reviews from current employees. All of the negative reviews are spot on - everything from the dress code that belongs in an episode of Mad Men to the crappy jobs professional women are forced to do and the bullying from upper management. The "bonus" system is a way of making support staff overcharge clients. If a client hands a letter to the receptionist, she will charge $5 to toss it in the mail tray. Staff that don't make bonus are chastised and belittled. The overcharging of clients is ridiculous, unethical and embarrassing for the client-facing staff. Question it, and you will find yourself getting an official caution for "attitude". The MD/CEO has Trump-level delusions about his own wealth and importance and rules by intimidation and belittling. The positive reviews from current employees will have been done under pressure - believe me, they *will* hunt down anyone who gives less than a stellar review and make their life hell! As a floor manager, you are given no real authority - hiring new staff (which had to be done constantly because of the massive turnover) was most difficult because you had to pass over talented, clever candidates in favour of those who have the "Servcorp look" (young, thin, preferably blonde and comfortable in sky-high heels and tight outfits) This was by far the worst job I have ever had

It is disappointing this is your view on Servcorp. We’ve been in business for almost 40 years and have grown consistently over that time because we help our client’s businesses succeed in 160 locations across 23 countries. It is true the ACCC has commenced proceedings against Servcorp but we believe they have no grounds to take such action and we will defend ourselves. We are the premium provider of shared workspace in the world and as such, hold high standards. This high level of customer service has been the key to our success. We are able to deliver on this due to having the finest training programs in the industry with further support from all levels. While our systems aren’t for everyone, we have a strong group of long-term team members, at all levels in our business, who really understand what it takes to make Servcorp and with that our clients' businesses a success. In Melbourne, Servcorp has 10 managers. Of our 10 managers, 4 have been with us for more than 12 years and 4 other managers have been with us for longer than 8 years. Our CEO is a colourful personality who has successfully built an amazing business. We are really proud of what he has achieved. Also, all of our employees’ reviews have been done so voluntarily and no one has been put under any pressure to post. I wish you luck with all your future endeavours.

Pros

Friendly people across all states and head office - I met some great friends here. Beautiful views from all locations across the world. Above average salaries and encouragement to complete courses.

Cons

Great people get stuck in this company and feel they can't leave. In my time at the company I experienced many upset people (across various departments and AU states) who felt trapped as the pay and promotion within most areas is pretty good and makes it hard to leave. There is a lot of pressure at all times and there is no flexibility. The job requires 8.30 - 5.30pm + more hours most days. Working from home is discouraged. The CEO casually yells at people on a daily basis at the head office and calls himself a dictator. If you are looking for a progressive, modern and flexible company then this won't be for you.

Pros

Most of the clients are genuinely nice and it is a good way to learn about multiple industries. Apart from this, there are none.

Cons

Beauty over brains. Chauvinistic values. Having to constantly charge genuinely nice clients to make them coffee or tea. The ridiculous dress standards.
