Pros

Some cool clients. Don't expect them to hang around too long though. You'll look super cool on Instagram.

Cons

The review, "A PR sweatshop built on glitter and lies" puts it as good as I can. Terrible work-life balance where you'll find yourself chained to your desk at 9:30pm on a Friday. Don't even think about taking a lunch break or leaving before 6pm. You better be expected to answer client emails no matter what time they come in and don't be surprised if you get a call while on vacation asking you to do something. People cry in the bathroom ALL THE TIME. Aside from the clique that got in at the start, people here are miserable and management does nothing to address the issues, except to throw an occasional happy hour and provide a weekly lunch. Which is why people are constantly leaving. I'll also never forget when the CEO, Mallory, called out an employee at a company-wide meeting for missing a client event, that had been rescheduled, because she got married and went on her honeymoon. She was publically shamed for getting married and going on her honeymoon. That was close to 3 years ago and I still feel so bad for that employee and can't believe it was allowed to happen. I would have quit on the spot had it been me. Pay is mediocre and definitly not industry standard.

A PR sweatshop built on glitter and lies

Pros

A good opportunity to be pushed beyond your limits and forced to bite off more than you would choose to chew. Somehow the agency gets a few big-name clients. You get free lunch once a week (or at least used to).

Cons

SGPR is Mean Girls come to life and the agency actually takes pride in this fact. "You can't sit with us" is the motto of the clique that has worked there for years and decides who gets to be part of the in-crowd and makes life a living hell for the others. The CEO—Cruella de Vil cosplaying as Snow White, a heartless leader who could care less about the work and the plight of her employees—has surrounded herself with this tribe of yes-girls and does not listen to others. Though life at SGPR looks like a sparkly, rainbow PR-fest on social media, what lies behind the filter is a reality that no one posts about. Staff (especially the juniors) are paid atrociously and made to work insane hours. People are constantly crying in the bathrooms. That BS about not writing press releases? Please. Small Girls is like every other agency and mass-spams media with whatever crap their clients are trying to push. The worst work/life balance of any agency I've encountered; expect grueling hours and wild workloads (it's not unusual to be stretched across 5-7 accounts and work 10-12 hour days). Most importantly: the racism, homophobia, and general bullying that's both permitted and encouraged at Small Girls is beyond compare. If you are not a rich, straight, white girl who wants to go through brutal tribulations for miserable pay—RUN AWAY. Small Girls is an evil sorority on steroids.

Pros

Beautifully packaged agency with well known clients. I firmly believe the co founders began wanting the playful, fun atmosphere and do achieve that still - some days. The pay isn't bad and the clients are fabulous! Most of my co workers are some of the best people you will meet.

Cons

There is a strange competition to see who can stay the latest in the office. If I ever leave at 6pm I can expect to get asked "oh do you have an appointment or something?" The co founders really can be fun people outside of work and much respect for starting a business at such a young age but, my god, as the Company grew so did their heads. "Small Girls, Big Heads". They put out this facade that it's all batman masks and dancing in tutus (great marketing and pr tactic) but they are the most condescending and catty "professionals" I've ever worked with. Read a lot of "sorority house" comments on here and that is right... It really does come from the founders. Employees throughout the office warn one another when one of them is in a bad mood and you learn to just stay away. Interns have come to me almost in tears after certain circumstances. Just not conducive to the fun environment you're trying to portray, ladies.
