Pros

- Good pension and leave balance. - Flexi time and adjustable hours. - Great colleagues who are empathetic and like helping each other. - Lower level managers are generally supportive and approachable.

Cons

- Senior management constantly making changes without consultation of staff on the ground, feels more like a "because we said so" culture taking root. - increasing micro-management in recent months, staff feeling patronised and like they are not trusted to get their work done - Salary is low for the work we do. - Huge delays in processing benefits which causes problems for our clients. - Communications and website not easy to navigate for a lot of people which makes us harder to engage with. - Concerns of staff avoided or dismissed outright by higher-level management. - Implementation of new benefits and processes never runs smoothly and promises to "learn lessons" don't pan out, same mistakes over and over again. - Planning and scheduling is a complete shambles. - Lack of consistent processes and solutions, you can have a query about any particular issue and get a different answer from every person you ask. - Training is inadequate and becoming increasingly less of a focus.

Pros

Flexi There is nothing else

Cons

Management (all levels) Target driven Mandated, sorry, forced office days Lack of communication Lack of accountability Not accommodating for people with disabilities, long term health conditions, caring responsibilities. If I were asked even 3 months ago for a review it would be completely different to how it is now. Executive team did through research (in that they were told by Scottish Govt to get bums on seats or risk cuts to budgets etc) to mandate everyone to come in 2 days a week irrespective of personal circumstances. Very much a “this is how it is and we don’t care if you disagree”. Management not knowing the ins and outs themselves but being spun lies/different information from other colleagues…. Now actively looking to leave this place as I don’t feel valued, respected, listened to. This place is worse than working for the NHS & I worked in the NHS throughout the pandemic & that was awful! Do not recommended unless you like being treated like crap!

Pros

Dedicated and hard working Case Managers and Client advisors who are holding the organisation together.

Cons

Career Civil Servant Managers who are more interested in career progression and beefing up their CV to move up the food chain rather than fixing all the things that have been wrong since day one. Twenty years in the Civil Service and I have never saw such incompetency. Senior managers try to deliver a social security system by treating staff as units of production and not people with laughable targets and ridiculous workloads.
