Delivery Arrangement Team booking delivery appointments and dealing with delivery issues. Last year there was some internal restructuring and I moved to the Customer Support Team.
Following this move there were many internal issues and the staff turnover rate grew. It was extremely stressful and I decided to leave. Previous reviews cover the experience of working in that team so I do not need to expand on that. I resigned in January giving 3 weeks notice, my last day of work was 12/2/26 and I expected my final pay on 10/3/26.
It got to payday and I was still able to log onto the system to view my payslip. I noticed that they had over paid me, so I managed to dig out an email address. I contacted Sofology explaining that I had been overpaid and I was still awaiting my P45. At this point I had already started my new role at the start of the month.
I was advised that they had failed to process my leaving and considered me still employed by them (note it had now been 6 weeks since I submitted my resignation). I was advised they would correct this as soon as I sent back the over payment. But I would not get my P45 until the April payroll was run. Sofology would advise HMRC about the overpayment so that any overpaid tax would be refunded to me.
I sent back the overpayment, and I did receive my P45 as promised. It is at this point that the true incompetence of the HR and Payroll functions of the company were revealed. Rather than correcting the HMRC records, they advised HMRC that I had actually earned twice my salary. As a result HMRC adjusted my tax code, wiping out my tax free allowance. My next pay from my new role meant I paid triple the amount of tax that I should have.
I contacted the Payroll Team again and raised a formal complaint against the company. They claimed that they sent another adjustment to HMRC correcting their error and that I would receive a response to my complaint from a senior person within a few days.
I have waited 2 weeks, and contacted HMRC again this morning who advised me that they have not received any correction from Sofology/DFS and they cannot fix anything without it. I still have not received any contact from them following up on my complaint. I have emailed them again.
I would not recommend working for this company, they have no respect for the people they employ.
