Disappointing- High potential but getting more toxic daily
Pros
If execs could get out of their own way the Company has a lot of potential. Customers like the software and your work gives you satisfaction in helping facilitate the bringing together of people across the world.
Cons
Original executives are not experienced or knowledgeable in running a business but tried very hard and employees would go the extra mile to battle for them because they cared about people. Consequently the business kept growing (albeit slowly). Recognizing their limitations the founders brought in another for the first time executive to fill the CFO role. In a vacuum that was a great plan. Problem is they chose the wrong person. The new CFO has completely taken over and convinced original management that she knows best. That is where the workforce has seen the biggest decline in morale and job satisfaction. She is blatantly rude and makes no attempt to hide it. She talks down to employees and takes the position that all policies should be exactly the way she envisions it (don’t even try to disagree with her). What used to be happy workforce now hates coming to work. Everyone I talk to is trying to figure a way out of the company. No one will speak up because they know they will not be supported by the founders (who have effectively forfeited their ability to even question the CFO). Over the years I have been here this is the worst I have seen morale. The story of Terra Dotta will be told as the high potential company with caring executives who had no confidence in their own management skill and therefore gave over control to the first person who claims to have some knowledge. The CFO is from the very back pages of the movie industry and tries to run the software Company like she is the star of the show. All other managers and teams are not even worthy supporting cast. She has not even been here a year. This is a company I have believed in for a long time. Sadly I also watched it lose its way extremely quickly. I pains me to say this about a company we helped to build but it is now a very toxic culture.
