Random firing. Beware

Pros

Free snacks and coffee were good

Cons

This company does not care about its people. In the year that I worked there, it seemed every month 1 or 2 people would get let go without any explanation. And then it finally happened to me. Around 4:45 - 15 mins before I was supposed to leave for the day - my boss and HR pulled me into an office without any warning. My boss said "I wasn't meeting expectations" and nothing more. I was immediately deferred to HR without even a chance to process my feelings. Former employees I've spoken to have been fired this way too. Management is extremely shady. Let me say again, they DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR PEOPLE.

We are committed to a full and transparent explanation in the rare occurrence where we must part ways with employees due to performance issues. We are upset to hear this may not have been the case for you. It’s our standard protocol to provide detailed performance improvement plans designed to help the employee reach their fullest potential and continue working with their team. It's never an easy decision to part ways, but we are committed to building a company of dedicated, hard-working employees who are true team players.

Disappointing turn after disappointing turn

Pros

- Unlimited PTO - Hybrid work environment - Great parental leave benefits - Great work/life balance - Health/dental coverage is good - 401k match exists, not as great as other tech companies

Cons

- Two reorgs in six months that were terribly executed. The first was branded as a "choose your own adventure" scenario that turned out to be an illusion of choice that tanked morale and productivity. The second reorg (layoff) made things much worse - but don't worry, we got new snacks in the office! - An almost comical lack of transparency. Although I got a good laugh out of the "computer buyback program" being marketed as a perk. - Leadership failing to take any accountability (ironically, a core value) instead pointing the blame on employees for not "executing" (another core value). - Leadership pretends to listen to employee concerns but do not act on it or follow up. The best you get is a 15 min Zoom chat or a haphazard slack saying "don't worry, we're working on it" - Unrealistic performance goals seem to materialize out of thin air - Pay is not competitive, although they've been "working on it" for over a year - Culture has deteriorated completely. The latest attempt to revive it "hey why don't you go out to dinner and I'll foot the bill" - something something something accountability. - Stock options would be exercised at a loss for the majority of employees that are able to do so

Pros

it gets two stars only because there are still a few good people left who are doing their best to bring the company back to what it once was they have a pretty good parental leave policy

Cons

where to even begin "Leadership", and I use that term lightly, no longer thinks about their employees. The layoffs were cold and calculated. Anyone who had a pulse on the old culture that won awards was canned. Terrible communication from the top down. My manager was not transparent and is under-qualified to do the job they're doing. Bad "Leadership" hires have sunk the ship. There was pushback on multiple leadership hires but they went right along and hired these people anyways. One was out within 6 months after bombing trying to restructure the whole company. One wore a care bear outfit (not joking) on their first day and very awkwardly struggled through a presentation about how they're "qualified" to lead culture. Another has let their whole team go and is now deceivingly talking about how much money they've saved the company. To top it all off, I think a certain someone is more concerned about what Whiskey they'll be drinking when they're in town versus trying to show the employees who are left that they actually give a damn about them and their well-being.

I take feedback very seriously, and I will fully admit that we are not a perfect company. However, we are always trying to learn and adapt to the current situation and make adjustments when things are not working as well as they should. Our primary goals remain to create a great company where we do right by our employees, protect the fiscal future of the company (and thus the fiscal future of everyone who works here) and build an industry-changing product. Lastly, the assertion about our recent layoff is off base and unfair to the people who worked on this. They were not "cold" in the least. The team that worked on this showed incredible empathy and compassion in our processes, conversations with those affected, and how we structured severance. However, they were absolutely calculated to impact as few people as possible and to ensure that we create the proper structure to keep moving this company forward. I am very proud to work with people who are always thoughtful about others. - Keith, CEO
