Pros

Good pay and benefits compared to other jobs in Tucson, but no overtime compared to most power plants. It seems as though upper management is trying to change the culture, however it is happenning very slow (maybe in 20 years). Good place to get experience since most things are not automated and have to be done manually.

Cons

If you want to do well and are self motivated, you can expect to be bullied. Many people here (operations) don't want to do much, if you're different then expect to be treated as an outsider and have information withheld from you. Most operators don't have any prior formal power plant education, if you do, people seem to be intimidated by it. Best advice is just keep it to yourself. Overtime is also very limited compared to other plants (almost non-existent).

Pros

Met some honestly hardworking, knowledgeable people at the plant. Even after being fired, for having an iota of integrity, I still stay in contact with to this day.

Cons

- Nepotism - "Good Ol' Boys Club" - People drunk/stoned at work - People who have zero desire to work - People who blatantly break laws in order keep the company in compliance with local/state/federal laws - People more concerned with getting their "8 hours" in and going home than getting work done.
