Pros

Ultima has some great people who actually care about their customers and will go the extra mile. Some fantastic technical people who really know their stuff. Modern looking office. Free parking.

Cons

When I joined solutions that were put in front of customers were vendor agnostic and were the best solution for the customers problem. They might not have always been the cheapest solution or the solution that vendor x is currently promoting. But most importantly the solution was ratified by a technical consultant. Now Ultima is very much a sales company with technical people. Solutions are sold to customers without the correct technical people being involved and ends up with the customer unhappy and the consultants are left to pick up the pieces. There are no real benefits. No medical, pension contributions are a joke (the legally bare minimum). Free fruit can't count when you are never in the office and no company car. Car Mileage rate is criminal - Ultima pay 11p a mile for personal car usage instead of the normal 45p a mile. When questioned about this we were informed by HR that the company believe that because they pay us £500 a month car allowance that makes it a company car?! You are expected to claim the remaining money back from HRMC. Which is easy enough to do when you know how. A word of warning - if you are owed more than £2500 then you will have to do a self assessment and as you can regularly do 10000 miles a year that becomes a horrible necessity. The managed services team are woefully under staffed. There are some amazing people in the TSC, however they are over worked, under appreciated and fighting a losing battle. Senior Technical Consultants are constantly leaving.

Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you agree we have some fantastic technical people that work for us. As we have grown considerably in a short time, your feedback is acknowledged. We are working very closely with our Technical teams to ensure our processes and staffing levels (we have recently considerably increased the headcount) are all sufficient to look after our customers.

Pros

You can actually progress (But don't expect payrises)

Cons

The sales team are either all clinically mentally handicapped, or there is zero training. Frequent issues arise with them, which would all be avoided if they actually knew how to do their job. Also: the sales team is the only team which gets any recognition, despite the fact that 90% of the problems are because of them, they get big expensive parties while the rest of us get sweet F-A. Pay-rises don't happen because the idiot in charge spent all his money on a awful hospital looking new office which serves no purpose other than to make the company look more modern to customers. They promised us benefits, but so far nothing has materialised. The idiots under the idiot in charge are pretty stupid too, upper management is run by a council of chimps on typewriters, they make decisions based on dreams and fairy magic, and expect the rest of us to pick up the slack, which there is a lot of. Turn over is incredibly quick, so no one really knows what they're doing.

Pros

None that spring to mind apart from the hybrid work environment.

Cons

This place is and has always been an unpleasant and demoralising working environment If you are offered a role here proceed with caution and take note of these reviews. Only a small amount of the positive reviews are valid. Others are written by the company themselves to ensure they look good to the public eye There is no prospect of career progression or opportunities to excel yourself here, loads of red tape and a lot of company politics with some very unhappy staff. The recent re-structure of the company and directors suddenly leaving is a huge cause for concern HR is a shambles they don't know what they are doing half the time with many of them leaving. They don't really care about the employee like they should and will side with management if you complain against anyone, then pay you off and show you the door. Recruitment will mislead you into thinking this place is great just so they can get their commission. Sales is a ruthless environment where you'll get dropped under a bus at any moment if your targets are not met People who have worked here for a longer length of time get forgotten about or pushed out and salary a increase is non existent even if you work hard Employee surveys are flawed and sugar coated to make the business look great to outsiders stay away. I made the mistake of accepting a role here I'm sure their marketing department will reply and try and put a positive spin on this to make the company look good and show they care!

We are extremely saddened to read this review and would like to address all points that have been shared with us. • Our Employee Engagement survey responses for the last 3 years have been extremely positive (and have been improving each time) and can share feedback that our employees have written in the surveys which are all anonymous therefore our stats do not support the statement below which shares that we have unhappy employees. • All reviews that are submitted through this platform are anonymous and we have no input or knowledge with who leaves reviews and aim to respond to all reviews left for our business. We value integrity so we categorically do not encourage any current member of staff to leave positive reviews to try and make our business look good. • We have an Employee Experience HIT team which focuses on people engagement and improvement opportunities for the business which are reviewed by the Head of People and Talent and the Board. We are passionate about building a happy and a successful work environment which is also a key focus of the board. • For career progression we are happy to share the significant amount of employees that have progressed through the ranks of our business from apprenticeship level all the way through to directors’ level. We thrive on seeing our employees grown with the rest of the Ultima family and will continue to encourage our employees career paths. • Our People and Talent Team (previously known as HR department) is going from strength to strength with new roles becoming available to join our growing team. This is to help drive our company values and strategic objectives and there has been no feedback that supports the statement shared in this review regarding HR as a whole and Recruitment. • All salary increases are reviewed on an annual basis in line with our Merit process which the guidance document is available to all employees at any point through our intranet page. Providing an employee meets the criteria of the merit award, they will be considered for a salary increase. • We have a number of ways that employees can let us know if they are unhappy. There is an employee voice form that gives employees of all ranks the autonomy to submit, whereby the marketing and HR team will review, they can speak to their manager, a member of the HR team at any given point or indeed any of our leadership team. Please kindly note that all reviews are taken seriously and assessed by our senior leadership team with support from the relevant department.
