Pros

Stable and long term positions are available, as well as internships and positions that would fit a short development interest. There are opportunities to work on different projects that may or may not relate to your position, but do relate to the electric distribution industry. Working for a cooperative opens you up to the electric cooperative world and extended networking.

Cons

As with any organization, there are areas that need improvement. Currently United Power is working on developing the leadership culture.

Not a fit for me

Pros

United Power offers solid healthcare benefits

Cons

I did not find the culture at United Power to be good fit for me as a younger person. Policies were outdated, salaries did not keep up with cost of living, and benefits (healthcare excepted) were generally unappealing (very limited time off).

Pros

Great benefits, decent working office, free parking.

Cons

Sometimes customers are difficult. It's just part of the job.
