I have been working at Unitywater full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great people with a desire to deliver the best quality outcomes for the community. A real focus on sustainability, which is refreshing and aligns nicely with personal values. The company is going through a cultural transition and as it continues to evolve this provides some challenges but also great opportunities. Flexible work options and opportunity to work on the Sunshine Coast

    Cons

Maturing and changing a number of its processes across the business and this can cause some friction at times, but ultimately the majority of staff are friendly and willing to help

I have been working at Unitywater full-time for less than a year

    Pros

UW has major projects, maintenance and upgrades, so there are always opportunities for exposure to new and different work. Grads rotate through various teams and business areas. There is loads of support and feedback from leaders, grad coordinator and the other grads.

    Cons

Some focus on status and function, at the cost of developing process.

I have been working at Unitywater full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I started at Unitywater as a vacation student at University. I then moved into the graduate program after finishing university. The graduate program at Unitywater is exceptional. The company moves you through rotations within the company over a 2 year contract, with 5 month 'Core' rotations, then 1 month of 2 fortnightly 'non-core' rotations. The core rotations go through all different areas of engineering, with exposure to planning, high level strategy, operations, project management, capital delivery, and more. The company allows you to choose which area you want to go into, then helps you try and get a permanent position in the area you are interested in. Graduate salary is also very very good.

    Cons

Not many downsides to the company that I have experienced however, parking can be bad at the main offices.

    I worked at Unitywater full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and some helpful and supportive colleagues

    Cons

It was a toxic work environment where job responsibilities were not defined and organized. The demanding workload was overwhelming and demotivating. Working here would make you neglect your family and friends because you just don't get time for them anyway. It was all work and no play.

I have been working at Unitywater full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Organisation is at the crossroads of technological, environmental and community change. Ability to make a direct and important contribution to the community. Diverse and Approachable management team. Commitment to building a better culture, passion to excel, and be world leaders. Building technology and systems that will improve both the employee and customer experience. Being with colleagues who are passionate about making the organisation better, contributing to the community, and help each other. Great career pathways and opportunities for engineering and water industry technical experts. Great benefits for parents and those starting a family, with work-life balance taken seriously by most. Serious long-term investment also being put into workplace culture.

    Cons

Organisation catching up from under-investment in systems and processes. Legacy systems and processes not fully integrated or optimised . Some of the management team are relatively new, building relationships and figuring out how to work together better. More work needs to be done on recognising and understanding importance of work-life balance. Organisational and management maturity and capability room for improvement.

I have been working at Unitywater full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Steady pay at reasonable wage

    Cons

As positions become vacant, they are not being filled and remaining staff are burning out when they have to shoulder the load. The company is not good about promoting from within. There is too much emphasis on hiring women over merit. The pendulum has swung the other direction where there is a female biased imbalance. Executive decisions on staff movements are often mysterious and inconsistent with procedure and unfair, creating a culture of fear and mistrust. There also is an us and them culture with favoritism being pensive towards Sunshine Coast over Moreton Bay offices. Lots of indecision in the adoption of of innovations and failure to take action is prevalent. Lots of talk and "engagement" with little action in areas of the business.
