Pros

- central location - loads of food choices - work life balance (subjective for ops, but applicable for corporate functions)

Cons

- toxic environment - you need to play the game or get kicked out - no accountability for anything - senior management's instructions can be twisted and turned by middle management - no transparency, everything is a secret - does not value talent or think training/upgrading is important - no room for progression, AD/DD just rotates around every 5 years. doesn't matter if they are experienced in the new role, they will be the new DD to lead the department to ruins - legacy is everything - if you are joining VITAL, do not propose any new suggestions, these are not welcomed in the functions("departments) - Ds are gods in VITAL - do not offend or you will face the rain of hell - attempting to apply RPA to everything is a joke - please stop thinking RPA is magic that will resolve all issues

Pros

Stability if you are okay with the gaslighting and toxicity. Always in need of people so unlikely to get dismissed. disclaimer that your experience largely depends on which division you belong to.

Cons

many middle managers have been around for a long time; these are poor performers and lousy bosses who cannot find a real job outside. do not mistake this for loyalty or ability. this is particularly bad in service partnership team. the bosses SS and RY are super toxic. making staff work non stop, berate and demean them over ridiculously small matters. no recognition given, mostly credit-snatching. multiple staff have left because of them, but snr management is not doing anything. RY was merely rotated to another team. other teams such as payroll, admin and HR are also filled with people who have been there for many years, but take no pride in their job. they just do the bare minimum for bosses to see, while treating their colleagues like dirt. there is really no reason for anyone to stay here long. will leave when i can

Pros

Near to maxwell and amoy of you are at HQ

Cons

Implementation of new system - is a total joke. UAT was conducted in such a way that it only covers "happy flows" which middle mgmt happily accept proposed test scenarios by IT vendor instead of coming up with plausible test scenarios from work experiences. System is not even ready to be deployed but green light was still given because " the implementation has been delayed for so long ". unsurprisingly multiple critical bugs surfaced and middle mgmt was "flabbergasted" cause they "didnt expect" it. The system is also used by business partners (other gov agencies) and multiple complaints has been circling back but the executives who are the first point of contact were expected to whitewash the incompetency of the system and continue "assuring" business partners. Multiple "work around" has been developed to support the failed system and manual intervention was the norm and middle mgmt always coax that it will be better. RPA - middle mgmt thinks by going through an online course you would be akin to some RPA expert or some sort of pros. trying to automate every single thing which pops up in their mind and expects scripting to be like done in a short span as though its like by imagination magic you can produce the script.
