Pros

Small company so lots of opportunities to take on new projects and have impact on decisions. Friendly team.

Cons

Company isn't exactly a thriving startup. Management tries to present an image of a hip Silicon Valley startup with huge potential, but after 4 years of operating, the company is struggling to really have big time success or present a convincing argument to the masses for why their product should exist. Business model and niche has severe growth limitations, and at least in my opinion it will have a hard time growing into anything significantly larger than it is today. The founders, while friendly and with good intentions, don't have any professional background in achieving startup success, company leadership or getting acquired and they often seem amateurish and just trying to copy what they've seen in movies/books/pop-culture about how to run a startup more than actually be inspiring or innovative business leaders themselves.

Pros

Remote work (especially in the U.S) Sometimes work trips/off sites

Cons

Sales leadership is so toxic. No one is on the same page and it seems that every month, a handful of people keep getting terminated or resign, only to see the cycle continue. U.S salaries are below market level across the board. It is really disheartening to see in other markets as well in regards to "cheap" labor.

Pros

Lots of independence and friendly vibe. Clients tend to be tiny mom-and-pop businesses new to using technology and you form a good working relationship with them. The all company trips were a nice touch to meet remote team members.

Cons

The WeTravel team is very young and almost no one has professional experience outside of university internships. My understanding is that because of the lack of funding/profit the company depends on staffing with low paid entry level workers that have good intentions and do their best, but are basically walking blindly and getting little guidance and mentorship. Since leaving WeTravel I've joined another startup and it's like night and day. In my new position more junior employees are strategically placed on diverse teams to gain experience, learn and grow, a technique I would encourage WeTravel management to do seeing they hire true seasoned professionals one day.
