Pros
The staff here are great and very supportive. Everyone is very committed to the mission of feeding people and ending hunger. Benefits are decent (company matching for retirement, Fallon for health care, a HSA).
Cons
There is no flexibility in your time, even if you are salaried. Micro-managing from the ED makes it hard to do your job. It takes a long time for decisions to be made, and a long time for the hiring process so a lot of staff have to take on extra duties until they finally hire someone (if at all). If you have an idea on how to make things better or want to try something new to test it out, the ED won't let you and you certainly don't feel like your opinion or expertise matters at all. Eventually, you start to doubt your own abilities. Some might call this a toxic work environment. There's really no ability to advance in your career here either - no way to be promoted to a higher position for most staff.
