Pros

Great Company Benefits the Parent company is National Grid and they get the opportunity to benefit from their Company Benefits. Good pension, maternity cover, share scheme opportunity & sickness policy. Great to work here if you are able to become friends with those colleagues who have been in the company for a long time. If you are happy to be a follower to ancient processes then this is the perfect place to work.

Cons

It is not a great place to work if you are wanting to make changes for the better as people will not let you progress with your ideas especially if you are not part of the friends circle within the management team. For those people who are career driven this is not the best place to succeed as the technology they use is so ancient. IT Department are only just discovering SharePoint 2010. This place can hold you back if you are wanting more from your career. Outdated technology doesn't help them with working smarter. This company does need a lot of changes to it. Even to make a small change to a process it will require top managements input. It can take a long time for any activity/project to actually get implemented. The pace is very slow.

Pros

Friendly and hardworking staff across the business. Company really tries hard to look after its staff. General benefits are good - pension is great. Organisation works hard with internal communication but there's always room for improvement. Company culture on the whole is very good with a real family atmosphere! Company prides itself on service and staff really take those values to heart.

Cons

There are too many lifers in the organisation who have lengthy service dating back to British Gas. Whilst some have adapted many are marking time. This longevity means that ways of working can be outdated and views of new people are not necessarily given enough consideration. Just because they have been around for 20 years does not make it automatically the correct decision! Also, there isn't any need to hire all your family members. There are so many husband/wives, sons & daughters, it's hard not to step on toes.

Pros

Since working here I've filled my CV with more excellent powerful bullet points than in the past 20 years! So much opportunity to grow and get involved in a wide variety of initiatives that you normally wouldn't get exposed to. The company has completely transformed in the past 18 months and it's an exciting journey. Investing in our people is one of our big ticket items and a lot of amazing benefits and people projects are happening in this space. We work hard and play hard and there's a great buzz around the office.

Cons

So much wonderful stuff to do, so little time - we need to continue to be more effective on our journey.
