Pros

Dog products is a fun brand, but that’s it.

Cons

Don’t like to have weekends or evenings with your family? Want to have your phone on you at all times to be on call for any fires? Want to work under micromanagement? Constant reminders that the business is doing well but won’t give you a raise after years? Want to work for understaffed team that don’t appreciate you? This place is for you!

Pros

We got large bonuses as a thank you from the previous owners before the company was bought out. That was nice, but also not relevant going forward since the company is under new ownership. Work from home opportunities.

Cons

Probably one of the worst companies I’ve worked for. They frame themselves as a small company with a tight-knit family culture but the manager and lead are suffering from superiority complexes that don’t make that possible. The company was recently bought out by a larger Chinese company, and they started using that as an excuse for their behavior. Instead of settling employees’ nerves regarding the changes, they constantly used it as a fear tactic that we better perform well or the new company will clean house. Not sure why they think making employees believe their jobs are constantly on the line is a good motivator or management style. They expect you to be glued to your desk for 8 hours with one 15 min break to use the restroom and eat. They claim it’s okay to eat at your desk while you work, but that’s not really true, because if you miss a call because you’re chewing, a manager will be in your inbox asking why you didn’t pick up the call. If you tell them you were in the bathroom or eating something, they’ll cop an attitude and say you either need to do that on your 15 or let them know. So if you want a job where you need to let your manager know every time you have a bowel movement or take a bite of a sandwich because they don’t give lunch breaks, then this is the job for you! Management will complain and hold meetings that employees don’t treat them with respect as a manager, then turn around and try to pry into employees’ personal lives and give unsolicited personal advice “as your friend.” Management also has fits of amnesia and are extremely hot and cold. They will tell you one week how great you're doing and that they see a promotion in your near future, then tell you they don't see what you bring to the table the next week. Toxic, slimy company with managers that only cares about protecting their jobs and their giant egos. I have experienced more empathy from large corporations who didn’t even know my name, than this small company that calls themselves a “family.” You can avoid the incompetent arrogant managers and make the same wage at a Wawa. Don’t apply here. There are many other jobs that will pay you fairly for your work and won’t treat you the way Zesty Paws will treat you.
