Pros

There's an ice machine in the kitchen

Cons

It's a tiring place. Management assumes people are inherently lazy and need to be governed constantly. Innovation is discouraged and it chokes most of the culture out of the work force. They treat people as tools, but tout a "positive culture" based on the occasional bowling game our company breakfast. The truly sad thing is that the people who do the work day-in-day-out are typically brilliant people and would honestly transform the world of grant making if management would listen and develop the staff. C-Suite staff is young and insecure. They tend to toss out catch phrases from the latest trends at meetings, with little meaning to the words. Turnover is high and people tend to get "disappeared" with no mention.

Pros

Short walk to Old Town Pasadena. Occasional company catered lunches. CEO is down to earth.

Cons

Executive Management team at best wouldn't be entry level management at any other company in the world. They have a group of "favorites" they continue to promote and give increases to while the ones at the bottom doing all the work wonder when raises will be implemented. Very small company with the mindset that they're a startup but have been in business almost 20 years. No growth opportunities. They will create new positions with super high titiles for those only who are apart of the "favorites". Majority of the staff including the management would have been those kids in high school who sat at the odd ball table. Company owns the building but refused to fix the ceiling. During the rainy season there are buckets and trash cans and tarps lining the halls and cubicles because their shoty patch work wouldn't last after a good rain came through. Pay was horrible. They talk a good game about culture and they picked you because you're so special and will add to what they believe in. All b.s. I honestly can't believe they're still in business. But you know how slick sales people can be.

Management clueless and power drunk

Pros

I worked for eCivis for over 4 yrs. The company mission and goal is good. The culture of the company is nice and everyone gets along or keeps to themselves which isn't a bad thing. Learned a lot about grants and local government I wouldn't have normally found out otherwise.

Cons

Management seems to be chasing their tail and trying to keep in front of the competition but are failing. Client service management is clueless on relating to staff and is drunk with power and needlessly micro managing senior employees even when their quarterly evaluations exceeds company quotas. No real communication among manager to staff. Very unstable environment and negative environment. Pay isn't great. No real growth potential unless you're "buddies" with the CEO who only communicates with the managers but the managers are only in touch with themselves. No management support for growth or even job improvement. The whole place seems to be set up for you to fail. Initially it will be a good place to work but things start to tank when you ask to grow. Management will not let that happen.
