Pros

- Opportunity to use SQL and scripting - Casual work environment

Cons

- High Turnover; I think during my tenure we had 10 people leave which is quite high for a ~5 person company ( I believe my tenure of almost 2 years would make me the longest technical employee ever ) - Long Hours - Buggy software; you'll be looking a large log files with cryptic error messages - Unprofessional CEO; does not treat any of his employees with respect. I remember being thankful when he yelled at someone else because at least he wasn't yelling at me. - Big promises, little returns. I don't know if anyone who has worked at the company for a full year has ever received a year end bonus. Year ended in December and come July there was nothing - No documentation - No standard processes - Too many responsibilities for one person; ie client facing, technical skills, project management, QA - CEO is a Monday Morning QB; things go wrong and you will hear about it FOREVER - Company is reactive and not proactive

Pros

I’m on my third year. I’m really enjoying my experience on the developer team, everyone is the right mix of approachable, accessible and helpful within their deep areas of expertise. As a Manhattan based tech company for the finance industry, it’s refreshing to be in a culture of authentic meritocracy. For most of my career, I’ve been treated as an expense rather than asset. I feel like an asset here. The nTier environment acknowledges my contributions as an asset verbally, and takes care of their own in terms of generous company benefits, and generous compensation. If you are clear on your value and what you have to offer, expect to be respected and rewarded for it here.

Cons

The code base is very specific so expect a learning curve no matter what your level of expertise. However, If you stick with it, nTier sticks with you.

Pros

-People who work hard, and do good work, get rewarded. -The business is growing substantially, and with that, the need for committed people. -Working directly with some of the largest financial institutions in the world, on some of the most complicated data challenges they face. Most clients have enormous IT departments that cannot solve the issues we are solving for them. -Above average compensation and benefits package. -Small company gives you the ability to touch every part of the business, if you want.

Cons

-Due to the complex problems being solved, meeting client deadlines is stressful at times, but never insurmountable. -Being at a small company means there aren't teams of people to handle things for you, so you generally need to be self-sufficient and willing to work outside of your comfort zone, which doesn't work for everyone.
