Did you know Friday 6 October is World Cerebral Palsy Day? Ahead of the day we’re sharing Tayla’s story. Tayla is one of the bright young people we met this year who shared her experience of finding a rewarding job through APM Employment Services. Living with cerebral palsy, Tayla faced many barriers from potential employers when she searched for employment. Her early experiences of being rejected or disappointed by workplaces also had a negative impact on her mental health. But as you’ll see in the video below, Tayla was determined to find a job where she could be valued and bring a hugely rewarding impact on the lives of others. We’re grateful for Tayla, the APM Employment Services team, and the staff and residents and St John Respect for sharing their story with us. Are you someone looking to make a positive impact on people with disability? Explore our roles. #APMstories #DisabilityInclusion #Employment #EnablingBetterLives

Well done to all our team members across Australia who have taken part in the #PushUpChallenge this month. 128 people across 36 teams have been pushing for better mental health as part of the campaign by the Push For Better Foundation. As of this morning they hit a combined total of 116,588 push-ups over the 23 days, and raised more than $6900 to help raise awareness and engage people in mental health education, and health and wellbeing. They included members from APM’s corporate teams, APM Careers, APM Employment Services, APM WorkCare, Assure Programs, Early Start Australia, Everyday Independence, Generation Health, Lifecare Australia, Konekt, and MCI Solutions. The annual fundraising and awareness challenge encourages people to complete a specific number of push-ups – or alternative exercises such as squats, lunches and crunches – everyday. This year’s The Push-Up Challenge total of 3,144 is to reflect the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2021. #PushForBetter #APM #MentalHealth #EnablingBetterLives
It was great to have a visit from our APM Ambassador Ellie Cole this week. The former Paralympic swimmer dropped by the APM headquarters in Perth before meeting with our APM Communities team members for a leadership talk about teamwork. As a record-breaking member of the Australian Paralympic Swimming Team, Ellie was able to provide some unique insights into the importance of teamwork as well as details about her experience as an athlete with a disability. Ellie joined APM after retiring from the pool last year and is supporting our mission to enable better lives and promote inclusion of people with disability in workplaces and the community. Our APM Communities team help people with disability, carers and families to access NDIS, mainstream and community-based supports in regions of Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. Thanks again to Ellie for sharing her insights with us! #Teamwork #DisabilityInclusion #Leadership #EnablingBetterLives
Our people are what make us ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY. A huge thanks to our team members who celebrated WA Day in Perth during the first weekend of June 2023. The work you do doesn’t go un-noticed. At APM, we share the same passion to enable better lives through services such as helping find employment, assist improve quality of lives or educate and put in preventative measures to avoid injuries at the workplace. Our passion doesn't stop at our workplace; we encourage our team members to participate in community events. It is an opportunity to network alongside team members from different business units. Over the last few days, our Yammer has lit up with beautiful pictures from across the country of APM teams embracing diversity and celebrating Diwali together. Take a look at what was shared around Australia and the excerpt below from Matthew Kling from our APM Communities team in Success, WA. "I feel very fortunate that this year Diwali has created the opportunity to educate ourselves and to come together and share a moment of immersion into a culture that is foreign to most of us ... I speak for everyone when I say we are blessed to have a new team member, Hari, who has a rich knowledge of Indian culture. Hari shared his culture and traditions with us, and provided us all with a background of the significance of Diwali."
