In the spirit of #NationalVolunteerMonth, we’re happy to spotlight another one of our employees! Today we are featuring Lisa Williams—our Creative Design Manager. Outside of work, Lisa volunteers as a Girl Scout Brownie Troop Leader and has been co-leading her troop for three years. As a Girl Scout herself, she traveled across the United States and Canada, earning both Silver and Gold Awards. Now as a Troop Leader, Lisa helps second grade Brownie Girl Scouts in STEM, art, and outdoor projects as they work together to make the world a better place. She also leads her troop’s annual Girl Scouts of the USA cookie sale, coordinating all of the logistics and finances to fund service projects and outings. From helping local hospitals, parks, food pantries, and endangered animals, the Girl Scouts quickly learn that you're never too young to make a difference. Thanks, Lisa, for all that you do for Riverside Research and for serving in the community! #WeAreRiversideResearch #GivingBackToTheCommunity

He reports that the team has been successful and competitive in recent competitions. At a recent competition in Blacksburg, the team won the Innovation in Control Award, a technical award which recognizes an innovative control system or application of control components. The team received this special recognition for their articulated robot arm design, which uses specialized software to draw and record paths for the arm in order to maintain consistent control over its function. In last weekend’s competition in Bethesda, MD at Walt Whitman High School, the team received the Excellence in #Engineering Award! #GoTeamGo #RoboticsWinners #STEMEducation
