I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Aerotek (Hurst, TX) in July 2015
Interview
I received a phone call from a recruiter. She was very nice. After speaking with her, she scheduled an in person interview. The interview was delightful! Very professional, friendly, to the point, and thorough. I got the feeling the recruiter really wanted to work WITH me to find the right work home for me. Kuddos to the recruiter and Aerotek!
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Aerotek
Interview
Applied online to a high-profile eCommerce client search for a senior administrative-based role earlier this month out of sheer interest.
I was called a few hours later by a recruiter who conducted a phone screen interview and noted my salary expectation, ability to relocate and asked me basic questions regarding my resume. Since I live in a different city/part of the country than the role requires, I was assured by the recruiter that relocation was an option and was to be compensated for.
I saw nothing wrong with this since I had the right experience to take on this role and was willing to move if I would be recompensated. I deliberately could not list prior industry experience because my resume would have been far too long.
A few days later, I reached out to the same recruiter who stated that their client reneged their interest as it was not open to financially supporting relocation and suddenly had issues with Skype interviewing me/questioned the duration of former contract roles (which were with high-level clients). I was furious, to say the least.
Doing a bit of e-sleuthing I did find out who the client was and they are unfortunately notorious for leading applicants on, workplace abuse / are a multi-billion dollar eCommerce conglomerate with warehouses all across the globe, so paying out relocation should literally be pennies to them.
It's their loss.
I don't feel confident in working with this firm again as I was essentially ghosted and had to chase the recruiting representative for answers.
That's not what I expect as someone who this recruiter/firm will have sucked commission out of via my paycheck.
