      Area Manager Interview

      31 Mar 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Mar 2016

      Interview

The entire process was about 8 weeks. After applying a recruiter checks your resume and if you make it to the next round you are contacted. I was contacted by a recruiter to set up a phone interview in the evening hours. My first interviewer never called me so I had to reschedule. Standard questions were asked on the phone and a short math problem was given. After my phone interview I heard back that I was moving on to in person interviews at a distribution facility. I was sent a list of case study questions I needed to answer and send to my recruiter prior to the in person interviews. That event consisted of a 45 minute tour of the building. We were then taken to a room and given 15 minutes to complete a math problem and fill in blanks on a chart. The rest of the interview was 4+ hours of interviews with various HR managers, operations managers, and senior operations managers. Each person asked standard questions and took a piece of the information you provided. One interviewer reviewed your math answers and then gave follow up problems. Another interviewer discussed our responses on the case study questions. One thing I'll say is that there are a lot of recruiters in contact with you. I can count 4 or 5 different people reaching out to me at different times for different reasons throughout the process. It can be confusing. You speak to one person then randomly another will reach out to you. Then a few days later another person is reaching out to you. It's a little strange. Amazon has high standards and encourage you to be independent and a problem solver. It appears it can be very stressful at time but the pay scale reflects the demands of the job.

      Interview

Prior to even speaking to anyone about a possible interview there was a long and lengthy testing required. Really disappointing to finish with no feedback or additional details. I only received an email post test.

      Interview

Extremely unprofessional in my opinion. Talked to 3 different people, all of whom were wearing old sweatshirts and not looking at the camera. As I was sitting on zoom in a suit jacket, did not feel at all a place I would be valued at.

      Interview

All virtual. STAR interview questions (situation task action result). Think of examples of tough situations you had to deal with. I think I had 2 or 3 interviews before I got an offer. Pretty smooth process overall.
