I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon
Interview
Started with a recruiter phone call. He asked about relocation, notice period etc. he scheduled a call with a senior designer. I got into the second round where I interviewed with another senior designer. It was mainly portfolio review. Design decisions and thought process. In a week recruiter called up to say that I got into 3rd round which is the one on one interview at Amazon office. It was a full day interview. Started off with portfolio presentation, white boarding exercise and 3 one on one interviews with senior manager and product managers. 4th round was with head of design and senior hiring manager. Lot of behavioural questions were asked. Try to have 2 instances for all common behavioural questions. They dig deep with answers and make sure that you are explaining a genuine situation because multiple questions will follow. In a week I got to know that I was hired. Recruiter will call you only if they have any news to share. The entire process took some 30 days to complete. That was faster than Microsoft
Make sure you are not making up projects and situations. You need to know your projects inside out. They will figure it out. Try doing some side projects and understand the industry. It will show your passion to the field and they like passionate designers.
Employer scheduled me a phone call with me to ask about my general knowledge with cognitive science and my experience in design. and then didn’t invite me for the interview process or give me any follow up information
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is your understanding of how cognitive knowledge works in collaboration with experience design?
I applied online. I interviewed at Amazon in June 2024
Interview
First there was an online workstyle assessment.
Once you pass that, you'll have a 1 on 1 Interview going over your portfolio and behavioral questions.
Finally it's time for the loop. For me this consisted of a case study presentation, whiteboarding exercise, and 5 interviews focused on behavioral questions.
