I applied on the Amazon website, and received a call from a recruiter after 1 month to schedule an interview. I had 1 45 minute interview with the recruiter, followed by another 45-minute interview with the hiring manager.
In the first round, the recruiter was very professional throughout the interview, he seemed very interested in learning about my background and experiences, and was speaking highly of Amazon, talking about their open culture and opportunities for development.
My second round interview did not go well at all. For starters, the hiring manager came 5 minutes later into the interview, and only half of his face was showing on Chime because he didn't position the camera properly. He seemed to have been over-worked, and was very negative during the entire interview process. He started by "If you think of Amazon and you start imagining the automated facilities in Seattle, think again, you will be working in a place that has no maturity whatsoever", he seemed unhappy about working in the Middle East, as he was constantly grieving how addresses are a nightmare when compared to the US/EU. He was using more of an interrogation method when questioning me about my experiences, rather than being genuinely interested in what I can offer.
I was planning to reject the next phase of the interview process, but I got a rejection letter in my inbox 2 days after.
