      Interview

Fairly simple. Two individual interviews with two people. They are a little misleading about shifts & schedules. Because the warehouses operate 24/7, the HR team is expected to also work 24/7. The shifts will be divided into days/hours so there is always someone able to help the associates.

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

I was contacted by an Amazon University Recruiter during my senior year of college. I responded to the email eagerly accepting the opportunity to do a phone interview. They were very quick about setting it up and I had an interview scheduled for the next week. I was very nervous and did my best to prepare and after some online research I made sure all of my answers were in the STAR method format. The questions were all behavioral based. My interviewer was great and sounded very sure of what she was asking and encouraged me to dig deeper into my answers which really made me think. We got along well and after 30-45 minutes she told me that I would be moving on to the next step. Because this was their peak season I had to wait two months before my in-person interview. They did touch base with me a couple times while I was waiting and told me if I changed my mind or accepted another job offer to kindly let them know. I finally received my interview notice a week into January. They were always prompt and contacted me when they said they would! My interview was in Seattle and only a 20 minute commute for me so I did not require any travel arrangements that they offered (including car rental, flight, and hotel). At the interview site there were a few other candidates and they all seemed very intelligent and friendly and they all came from different places. I was excited to be apart of this diverse group. I had two 45 minute interviews and my first one was a little shaky due to my nerves I'm sure. I thought I did not do so well. The interviewer seemed like he was new to interviewing but he was friendly enough and once he got the hang of his role and I got a hold of my nerves it was smoother. The second interviewer was a lot more experienced and we had a great conversation as she was in the department I would be working in so I had a lot of questions answered. I did sign a Non Disclosure Agreement so I will not be specific about the questions that were asked or the discussions I had within that interview time frame with anyone. I was told that I would know the results of the interview by the next week. My interview was on a Thursday morning, and I accepted my offer by Tuesday afternoon! Now I am waiting for location placement which I can find out anywhere in the next couple of months. That may seem like a long time to wait but they have been so good about sticking to their time frames that they set and I am confidant that I will be satisfied. I have heard a lot of horror stories during my research of the company including some crazy interview experiences. But I have to say, this was nothing but pleasant for me and they have been efficient and professional throughout this entire process. I cannot wait to begin my journey here and see where it takes me.
