I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (Philadelphia, PA) in May 2021
Interview
Phone Screening > Coding Challenge > Technical Interview w/ two developers
The communication was not very good throughout the whole process. I had to send multiple emails to hear back each step. The Coding Challenge was two parts, first part was to build a counter in React that displays the amount of clicks of a button. The second part was to build a Slide Carousel in React. I didn't complete the second challenge but was still moved forward. The technical interview was with two developers on the team asking me questions about coding and asking me to code a few simple things in React. Overall each interview went well, but the lack of communicatino is why I rate the experience as a negative. I never heard back from anyone after the technical interview and tried reaching out multiple times to multiple people for at least an explanation to why I didn't move forward. I feel after getting as far as I did in the process I should have at least gotten a generic "Thanks for your time, you didn't get the job" email.
