I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at American Express in Jan 2012
Interview
Applied through a recruiter. She set up some time with the hiring manager for a first round over the phone, after which I was invited to two 2nd round interviews, one with the hiring manager and colleague, and one with the VP. Although the interview process went through very quickly because of the urgent need to fill the role, American Express can take time to process things.
I applied online. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY)
Interview
First 2 rounds were straightforward, one behavioral with the Hiring Manager and an excel case w/ an adjacent manager. Final interview was was with another manager of an similar team. It seemed like they already had a candidate in mind and rushed through the final interview to hit a arbitrary checkbox.

Question 1
Give me your breakdown of the case based on the numbers that you came up with on your model.
Interview was 3 stages of increasing rank, most people are not super technical so it wasn't too difficult, they basically went by background more than anything. Definitely prioritize your organization skills, and how you progressed through career thus far.
Applied Online, and then got a hirevue, they asked "pitch me an investment idea" and I was kind of thrown off, but answered, Waited about three months and then got a rejection email.
