I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in June 2011
Interview
Interview process and experience varies significantly based on the experience of the person conducting the interview - some work done to formalize the interview questions but unless the interviewer has sold experience conducting a well thought out discussion with a prospective employee, the experience can range from very positive to negative

Fairly typical questions; outline your approach to people leadership, what is your management style, some case study type questions
Excellent. Was over the phone. They were very friendly and the interview was the typical introductory call. We both agreed that the position didn't suit where I was in my career

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Feb 2016

3 rounds of interviews with Hiring leader, VP and SVP. Final round was just a stamp of approval interview. This was for an internal role and they needed someone right away so the entire process took less than 2 weeks

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Mar 2014
Interview
It was a long process, about 6 weeks. Interviews themselves were pretty standard, got to meet a number of team members to get a sense of the culture which was helpful. Had to come in 7 times, and in the final interview I was told I might get an offer but had to wait until the next week. After the offer came through it took two full weeks to confirm the offer plus additional time to get the background check done. Don't be alarmed, it takes forever. Thorough process.
