Interview
Online test and 3 rounds, hr manager and technical. The tech guys were really skilled. Mangers were good but I didn't like the attitude. Difficult questions but not impossible. Hr normal interview. Great location, amazing company culture.
I applied online. I interviewed at Atlassian (Sydney) in June 2018
Interview
The interview process consists of altogether five rounds.
First is an online HackerRank test of five questions in 90 minutes. Four of the questions are average and one is more difficult. No need to solve all of them, important is to maximise points.
Second is a 30 minutes non-technical Hangouts interview with an HR person. The talk is about motivations, previous work, familiarity with Atlassian etc.
Third round is an hour long pair programming exercise where one needs to find some bugs and implement features for a user/group service. There are five tasks which is probably too much for the amount of time but the important is to be able to collaborate and take hints, and to write the correct tests to be able to find the bugs.
The fourth round would be a technical interview and the fifth would be an interview with a chosen team.
1. Initial online coding problem. Needed to solve 2 of the 6 questions to progress to next stage. The difficult ramped up heavily after the first 3 questions.
2. Behavioural interview. Good opportunity to explain why you like programming and talk about how you could fit into Atlassian.
3. 3x 30min interviews. Programming interview required implementation of a stack / queue and optimising it for their specific test case. Design interview involved a discussion of a past project and some challenges that were faced and overcome. Technical interview involved discussion of OOP principles and Java specific questions and knowledge.
Everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful.
