I applied online. I interviewed at Capital One in Feb 2017
Interview
Just like everyone said, the flow of interview is Recruiter -> HankerRank -> Technical Phone Interview -> Data Challenge -> On-Site.
There are few things I want to address:
1. They define their data scientist as 50% software engineer, 30% statistician, and 20% business analyst. The main tools they are using is Python, Amazon Web Services, and Spark(Scala).
2. They don't give offer if you can be on board within 2 months, so don't apply too early.
3. They will sponsor for this position.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
My earliest graduation date is in August, so the recruiter just called to confirm my visa condition and explain the whole process to me. He wanted me to contact him again before my graduation.
Only gone through the initial HR interview process so far. Waiting to go through OA and power day. Applied mid June. Got an answer end of June/ early July. Seemed like just a screening of the resume so far. Nothing substantial yet.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Capital One (Dallas, TX) in Jan 2026
Interview
I had an interview with the hiring manager, and she started to ask about my CV and went through the details of each project, and also asked additional questions about each project, what would happen if we do this or that
The recruiter call me and after a 30 min meeting with HR they set me up for interview with the manager, but no one showed up and they never responded my email
